7Q, MALAWI
QSL Manager Allan, G0IAS, informs OPDX that he dropped Harry, 7Q7HB (G0JMU), at the airport on August 23rd, for another trip to 7Q-land this past week. Length of stay will be about 3 months at Club Makokola. Activity will probably be on 20/17/15 meters using the Digital modes and CW. QSL as usual is "ONLY DIRECT" to G0IAS with sufficient funds for return cards. NO BUREAU cards. NO eQSLs. Just old fashioned paper cards DIRECT! Allan states, "SORRY NO RETURN POSTAGE = NO CARD." G0IAS also handles the cards for Malcolm, 7Q7MH (Allan states, "ALL that I have received have now been returned."). Allan also mentions that 1 USD is no longer enough postage for return, even into EUROPE. NOR are envelopes with local currency on them, he has half a dozen with Spanish and German stamps... the ROYAL MAIL will NOT accept them.

SOUTH PACIFIC TOUR (Update/Change)
Operators Pista/HA5AO and George/HA5UK, who planned to activate Fiji, Tuvalu, Western Kiribati and possibly Banaba, between October 1st and November 15th (OPDX.1010), have now reschedule their DXpedition to January/February 2012. This due to difficulties in organizing and making arrangement for the transportation to Banaba. Excerpts from their Web page states they plan to operate from Tuvalu on January 12th, as T2HA. They will fly back to Fiji on January 26th, and do 3 days of operations as 3D2HA, before leaving for Tarawa, on January 31st. Operations from West Kiribati will last until February 23rd.

They will attempt to go over to Banaba Island for 7-10 days within this period. The Web page states (edited), "We will do our best to get over to Banaba, but the exact time of T33HA Banaba operation can be announced from Tarawa only. Two stations will be on the air from 160-10 meters bands on CW, SSB, RTTY and some PSK and SSTV modes. The landing permit to Banaba, licenses and flight tickets to Fiji, Tuvalu and Tarawa are in hand. The radios, antennas, PAs and other technical stuff have already been put together and packed. The weight of these packages exceeds the 100 kg (200 pounds).

We will bring everything with us, as excess baggages. This DXpedition is not an expedition with dozens of operators, neither family holiday. It will be a 'simple two men show'. However, our 8 weeks long operating plan, working from 3 different rare countries, makes it very expensive. We will cover the flight tickets, accommodations and other personal expenses. The excess baggage fees and the transfer to Banaba are extremely expensive. Thus we are seeking support from DX Foundations and Organization to help us to cover the extremely high transfer expenses to Banaba and the excess baggage fees. Personal con- tributions are also welcome." For more details and updates, visit:
