3D2R, ROTUMA (Update)
By the time you read this a large multi-national
team will be preparing to leave for a DXpedition to Rotuma from Lami Bay,
Suva, departing by ship to Rotuma (OC-060) on September 25th. The Team
expects to arrive in Rotuma and become active on Tuesday, September 27th.
They will complete their DXpedition on October 7th. Their main goals of
this DXpedition are to work every amateur radio operator who needs Rotuma
for a new DXCC country. They will be active as 3D2R on all bands from 160-2
meters, including the 60m and 6m, using CW, SSB and RTTY. They will also
be active on PSK, SSTV and EME. Special attention will be made to work
stations from Europe and Africa during those periods when propagation
permits. The propagation window for EU and Africa is very brief at times
and signals may be weak, so they ask everyone in the honor of HAM SPIRIT
to stand by when asked so that they may fulfill this need. They plan to
upload their logs on a daily basis to their online log. They will upload
to LoTW approximately six months following the DXpedition. The team is
still currently seeking additional Club and Individual Sponsors to help
them defray the costs of carrying out this DXpedition. QSL via YT1AD,
direct or by the Bureau. For more details and update, see the 3D2R Web
page at:

(not two as first mentioned), 4K3K, 4J0K and 4J0SFR. Please be aware that
the mentioned callsigns are only legal to operate in the assigned Nagorno
Karabakh area. No other callsigns are issued for the named territory by
the Ministry of Communication of Azerbaijan. Any other callsigns are
considered illegal. QSL both 4K3K and 4J0K via RW6HS. QSL 4J0SFR via

mainly who already made QSO with him in 2010.
* Those who sent DIRECT QSL to him for 2010 operation, PLEASE
make a NEW QSO!
* NO need to send him a second QSL, just drop him QSO details
via mail at
* Remember: ONLY a new QSO with 5C2SG callsign will allow you
to get you a QSL back using the previous request you made!
* PLEASE TAKE NOTE: only ONE QSO is needed for IOTA operations.
Multiple bands QSOs are unuseful as this callsign is not for
DXCC purpose! By making more than one QSO you let another
station MISS a QSO as he has LIMITED time to be on the
island. THINK about it and let others make QSO with him
like you did! Those who insist to make MORE than ONE QSO
will be later REMOVED from the log.

be IGNORED.

December 31st, to celebrate their 40th anniversary. QSL via LA9L, by the
Bureau or LoTW only. No direct! Also, look for Olaf, LB8IB, to be active

Dated September 21st - "After a one-day delay, we finally made
it. Perfect weather yesterday for our landing; more wind today but in
spite of that you will find the logs uploaded for the first night. We
are still in the process of establishing our stations and antennas.
That means we are quite busy; the SteppIR is working fine, and we have
30M and 40M dipoles up and running so far. Will erect the Titanex,
weather permitting today. 30M sounded like a lot of Aurora, with difficult
propagation into USA and Japan, and a huge pileup from Europe on the
first night. But we worked a lot of DX, including the US West Coast and
Midwest. No generator problems so far; with so much power from the six
windmill generators, the diesel generator has not been fired up yet.

With the "Pacific DXers" postponing their DXpedition to
Nauru (see C2 above), the group has reorganzied their first DXpedition

Eric/VK4NEF, Tim/NL8F, Jay/K4ZLE and Julian/W5SL. Activity will be on
all HF bands, 160-6 meters using CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK31. They expect
to have at least 3 stations on the air with a dedicated station set
up on 6 meters running in an interrupted beacon mode. QSL Manager is the
Pacific DXers, or by the Bureau via VK4FW. Bureau requests are also
accepted by E-mail to eliminate sending your QSL via the Bureau (saves
time!). PLEASE NOTE: VK4FW is the current QSL Manager for Pacific DXers:
