3D2C, CONWAY REEF (Update)
An international team of operators will be active as 3D2C from Conway Reef (OC-112) between September 24th and October 5th. 6O, SOMALIA
A team of Italian operators will be active this week from from Galkayo, Somalia, as 6O0CW between May 7-18th. Operators mentioned are Silvano/I2YSB (6O0CW), Vinicio/IK2CIO (6O0IO), Angelo/IK2CKR (6O0KR), Marcello/IK2DIA (6O0IA), Stefano/IK2HKT (6O0KT) and Gino/IK2RZP (9O0ZP). Also mentioned are Software developer Giacomo/IH9GPI and Pilot station Art/IK7JWY. Activity will be on 160-6 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. Suggested frequencies are:
 CW - 1823, 3530, 7025, 10113, 14050, 18069, 21050, 24891 and 28050 kHz
 SSB - 3790, 7056/7125, 14270, 18130, 21275, 24980 and 28450 kHz

The same team has operated from Somalia in 2005 with the callsign 6O0CW and 2006 with the callsign 6O0N, putting in the log about 25,000 QSOs in the first case and about 35.000 QSOs in the second one. We ask those who have already worked us during one of these DXpeditions to not work us again in the same bands/modes, thus giving more opportunities for those who have not previously worked Somalia. 6V, SENEGAL
Vladimir, RK4FF, will once again be active as 6V7S from Le Calao in Ngaparou between May 16-28th. Activity will be on 80/40/20/15/10 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. QSL via RK4FF.

7O6, YEMEN
An international team of operators are now active as 7O6T from Socotra Island (AF-028) as of 2100z, April 30th through 2100z May 15th. Activity will be on 160-10 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. Suggested frequencies are:
 CW - 1824, 3504, 7004, 10104, 14024, 18074, 21024, 24894 and 28024 kHz
 SSB - 1845, 3780, 7065/7180, 14145, 18145, 21295, 24945 and 28495 kHz
 RTTY - 7035, 10140, 14080, 18100, 21080, 24920 and 28080 kHz

The 7O6T log shows (per ClubLOG dated May 5th, at 2106z): 74613 Total QSOs and 20859 with Unique Calls. Mode breakdown: 38537/CW, 35329/SSB and 747/RTTY. Continent breakdown: 562/AF, 0/ANT, 8312/AS, 48761/EU, 15906/NA, 558/OC and 514/SA.

DAYTON HAMVENTION NEWS (Press Release - SWODXA DX DINNER ANNOUNCEMENT)

"FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- The SOUTHWEST OHIO DX Association (SWODXA) wants to remind everyone that the DX Dinner™ is less than three weeks away. The dinner will again be at the Dayton Marriott, 1414 S. Patterson Blvd., Dayton, OH 45409 on Friday, May 18th. The cash bar opens at 5:30 p.m., with dinner served at 7:00 p.m. Following the meal, there will be a separate room and cash bar available for more fellowship. Ticket sales have been brisk, and the reservation deadline is only two weeks away. Dinner details, a list of door prizes, and the reservation order form can be found on the SWODXA event website, www.swodxaevents.org Dinner reservations must be received no later than midnight, Saturday, May 12, 2012."

The Contest consists of 3 convenient periods (8 hours each) during the weekend. To add more adrenalin into this competition a special feature will be offered to those who like competing in real time ­ online results will be presented on a server. And, of course, a lot of real nice prizes, mostly RigExpert AA-230 and AA-30 Antenna Analyzers and RigExpert USB Interfaces. All prizes sponsored by RigExpert Ukraine Ltd. Since the number of the participants is relatively small and the most populated competing area is Europe, the "far away" stations from NA, SA, Africa, Asia and Australia are at great advantage. From the last year's experience those stations were the most prize winners.

Considering this and also to support growing participation from Europe, the sponsors "double" the prizes ­ i.e. separate main prizes are now available both for Europe and for the "rest of the World". But wait, that's not all! For those of you who won't be able to win "main prize" in respected category, there will be a lot of small gifts, like T-shirts and paper awards. All the prizes will be mailed to participant's home addresses. GD, ISLE OF MAN

HS85, THAILAND (Special Event)
Members of the Rotarians Of Amateur Radio (ROAR) are currently active as HS85RI; the special event station for 2012 Rotary International Convention in Bangkok. IOTA NEWS
AS-067. Operators Mitsuo/JF6TEU and Tsuyoshi/JA6VDB will be active as homecall/6 from Uji Island between May 11-13th. Activity will be on 80-12 meters using CW and SSB. EU-008. Glyn, GW0ANA, will be operating as GW0ANA during a "Micro DX-Pedition" from Gigha Island, Inner Hebrides, Scotland, between May 21-27th. Activity will be on SSB, RTTY, PSK and SSTV. QSL via GW0ANA, direct QTHR or by the Bureau.

EU-127. Michael, DL4ABO, will be active as homecall/p from Neuwerk Island (GIA N-012) and lighthouse (DLTD #38, ARLHS FED-165, TWLHD WLH DL-019, WLOTA 2311) between May 10-11th. Activity will be focused on 80-17 meters CW. Also, this operation counts for the National Park and Nature Reserve award (Hamburg Wadden Sea WFF DLFF-005). EU-174. Boyko, LZ1QN, has been issued the special contest callsign SW8A and plans to visit Samothraki Island, Greece, to partic- ipate in the upcoming CQWW WPX CW Contest May 26-27th. OC-199. Wally, VK6YS, will be active as VK6YS/p from West Lewis Island between May 19-21st. Activity will be on 40-10 meters using mainly SSB with some CW. J7, DOMINICA
Operators Ken/JN1THL (J79KT), Yoshikatsu/JK1KHT (J79YK), Yoshiko/JQ1LCW (J79YL) and Misae/JF1UOX (J79JF) will be active this week from Dominica (NA-101) between May 10-17th. JW, SVALBARD
Operators Karl/LA8DW (JW8DW) and Kjell/LA9HH will be active from the JW5E club station in Longyearbyen on Spitsbergen Island (EU-026) between September 12-19th. KK5, UNITED STATES (Special Event/IOTA Op)
Look for members of the Brazos Valley ARC (KK5W) to be active during the Museum Ships Weekend (0000z, June 2nd to 2359z, June 3rd) operating from radio rooms of WWII Submarine USS Cavalla and Destroyer Escort USS Stewart from Seawolf Park on Pelican Island (NA-143) in Galveston, Texas. NEW QSL MANAGER. As of April 30th, 2012, Buzz, NI5DX, has become the QSL Manager for Volker, ZS3Y. Buzz will be able to confirm all contacts made with ZS3Y after October 11, 2008. Cards will need to be printed so replies will not be sent out for about six weeks. Patience is appreciated during this transition period.

Eric, K9GY, who is active as T6MO from the Helmand Province (Grid MM21), will be on during the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 26-27th) as a Single-Op/All-Band/Low-Power entry. V4, ST. KITTS AND NEVIS (Update)
John, W5JON, will once again be operating as V47JA from his Calypso Bay, St. Kitts, W.I., hillside vacation home (CQZ 8, IOTA NA-104, Grid FK87pg) between July 12th and August 2nd. Activity will be on 80-6 meters, including 60m and using SSB. His activity will also include RSGB IOTA (SSB) Contest as a Single-Op/All-Band entry and also, the CQWW VHF Contest (July 21-22nd). Equipment will be: Kenwood TS-590S and a SB200 Amplifier and a 80-10m Multiband Dipole and S9 Ver- tical (18' and 31'); 6m will be a 3 element yagi. W9DXCC DX CONVENTION ANNOUNCES (Press Release - dated May 5th)

"DX'ing from the Black Hole - A multi-session course to be presented in conjunction with the 60th W9DXCC DX Convention (Schaumburg, Illinois) -- The W9DXCC convention committee has announced it will offer a 4 session class on Friday, September 14th, 2012, to introduce ham operators to the excitement and fun of 'DXing', or contacting hams in other countries around the world. The class will be held the day before the W9DXCC convention on September 15th, and has been designed for new and inexperienced DX'ers. Each will cover a different aspect of DX'ing including operating practices, station design, chasing awards, QSL'ing and propagation from the Black Hole.

All presenters are accomplished DXers from the NIDXA (Northern Illinois DX Association) and include K9AJ, K9EL, WA9YYY and W9MU. Between them they have over 100 years of experience that includes participation in DXpedition operations to rare locations around the world and numerous awards.
