3D2/R, ROTUMA (Reminder)

3DA, SWAZILAND (Press Release) [edited]

"The 3DA0ET Dxpedition is due to get under-way late on the 16th November or on the 17th November, depend- ing on if we have time to get any of the antennas up on the first day. As a new feature, we have installed a 'Dxpedition Hot-line' phone number which connects to our pilot. The number is listed on our Web site at: http://www.swazidx.org The purpose of this hot-line is primarily for sending SMS messages about any copy on our new six meter beacon which will be running 24/7 on 50.450 MHz FM (primarily for Es as part of the Southern Africa Es beacon initi- ative), and for sending us any reports re RX of our low-band activities.

Details about how we will handle any six meter openings are also on our Web site. The first of our team members arrives in South Africa on the 12th November, with the rest of the team assembling in ZS-land prior to departing for 3DA0ET by the morning of the 16th November. A reminder that we'll have a strong focus on RTTY with a 24/7 RTTY operation alongside our CW and SSB activity. We are also QRV in the CQ WW CW contest as an M2 effort. We're running 5 stations with 4 hexbeams, 3 mono-band verticals for 40, 80 and 160, dedicated low band RX antennas and a selection of dipoles. We hope to see you in the pile-ups!

4S, SIR LANKA
Peter, DC0KK, will once again be active as 4S7KKG from Moragalla, Sri Lanka (AS-003, WLOTA 0762), between November 17th and April 15th, 2014. Activity will be mainly on CW and the Digital modes. 5B, CYPRUS

5C, MOROCCO
Members of the URE Cartagena team will be active from the ARRAM HQ club station CN8MC in Rabat as 5C5T during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 23-24th) as a Multi-Single/Low-Power entry. By the time you read this, Eric, F6ICX, will once again be active as 5R8IC from Saint Marie Island (AF-090) until December 15th. 8P, BARBADOS

9J, ZAMBIA
Niko, S53A, will once again be active as 9J3A from the Kafue National Park (WFF-9JFF-003, WWL KH35) between November 18-26th (approx). This is his sixth operation from Zambia. Activity will be mostly during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 23-24th) as a Single-Op/All-Band/Low- Power/Unassisted entry. His QSL Manager informs OPDX that Niko will also be active as 9J3A/m, before and maybe little after the contest, from the Land Rover (out just for the fun) with a small whip antenna and 5 watts. * WHY 5A1AL IS BEING REJECTED FOR DXCC? Sharon Taratula, Administrative Manager, states:

"The DXCC Department hasn't received complete documen- tation for the 5A1AL operation. DXCC operations require the license of the operation, evidence of authorization for landing, and/or proof of transportation and/or entry. A landing permit is generally issued by a government agency, and grants the person or group permission to enter certain areas for purposes including the operation of an Amateur Radio station. Proof of transportation and/or entry may be a statement by a boat captain or aircraft pilot, certifying that the persons involved were transported to the entity in question."

J6, ST. LUCIA (Press Release: 5th St. Lucia Buddies in the Caribbean Suitcase DXpedition) [edited]:

"Travel plans are set for the fifth 'Buddies in the Caribbean' (BIC) mini-DXpedition to St Lucia (J6). Eight operators, some of whom have never experienced the 'other side' of a pileup, will be operating from Chateau Devaux on the NE side of St. Lucia from December 1st through 9th, 2013. This 'Suitcase DXpedition' will operate QRP to 100-watt radio stations using backpackable Buddipole antennas to make contacts from the villa, the surrounding mountains, and (of course) from St. Lucia's superb beaches.

The eight operators are Jerry/N9AW, Craig/NM4T, John/W5EXJ, Joe/K3JDB, Rick/AA4W, Jim/W4QO, Chris/W6HFP, and Budd/W3FF (J68FF). Ops will preface their own calls with 'J6/'. Team members will operate several CW, SSB, and/or Digital Mode stations on 160-10 meters from the villa while others make contacts with portable set-ups from other J6 locations. Per tradition, meeting and operating with local hams while on J6 is one of our key goals. QSO confirmation and QSLs will be available via LoTW, Bureau or direct via information on each operator's QRZ.com page."

There will not be a team effort during the CQWW DX CW Contest, but possibly one operator will take part in the contest as a Single-Op/ All-Band entry while the others operate outside the contest on the WARC bands or SSB and digital modes. KH8, AMERICAN SAMOA (Reminder)

The "K9W Wake Atoll Commemorative DXpedition" is now QRT as of November 15th. Via their Web page:

By the time you read this, members of the Mediterraneo DX Club should be active as S21ZBC between November 16-22nd. Activity will be 160-10 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. T32, EAST KIRIBATI (Update)
Members of the Russian Robinson Club are expected to be active as T32RC between December 4-11th. Tim, NL8F (T32TM), who will be there before the T32RC crew arrives, informs OPDX on Saturday [edited]:

"Hi Guys.... Well T32TM is ready to depart. All radios, amps, antennas and trinkets are packed and ready for things to start. I leave Dutch Harbor, Alaska, in the morning Sunday at 10am local time heading to Seattle to take part in the North Pacific Fishing Trade show, and then depart to Honolulu on Sunday, the 23rd, spend a day or two catching up with some of the KH6 guys before departing on the 26th to Kiramati. I will then set up the radio equipment, and then it is on from the Captain Cook Hotel. Band conditions are great so will be operating the high bands during the day light and low bands at night. The rest of the crew T32RC are also almost packed up, and we have some very good antennas for the low bands with us, especially for the 160m contest and the rest of the time. Remember, this is not a huge DXpedition and any small amount of donation to the Web site will be very much appreciated to help with the excess baggage costs of the antennas and radios. The OQRS by ClubLog is available and will be the preferred method to use for your QSL confirmation. Logs will be posted to Logbook Of The World (LoTW) approximately 6 months after the conclusion of the DXpedition. Direct QSLs are via W2IJ. QSLs will also be available direct by the Bureau. THE BIG PICTURE (Of Expedition Operating ...)
With the unspeakable behavior by amateur radio operators over the last fews weeks trying to work the many DXpeditions on the air, Rick, K6VVA, (aka The Locust), well known IOTA DXer, has put together an interesting video. TO4, MARTINIQUE
Rich, M5RIC, will be active as TO4C from Martinique (NA-107, DIFO FM-001, WLOTA 1041, DDFM 97) between March 26th and April 1st. Activity is usually on 80-10 meters, especially 30/17/12 meters, using SSB and RTTY. He plans to participate during the CQWW WPX SSB Contest (March 29-30th) as a Single-Op/All Band entry. TU, COTE D'LVOIRE (Reminder/Update)
Operators Chris/F4WBN (ex-TL0A), Paul/F6EXV and Jan/DJ8NK will be active as TU5AX, TU5XV and TU5NK, respectively, for a solidarity radio operation which will take place between November 17-30th. Activity will be on SSB, CW and RTTY, with operations on 160-6 meters (including 60m). Suggested frequencies are:

TX5, NEW CALEDONIA (Update)
Freddy, F5IRO, continues to be active as FK8RO from Plum, New Caledonia (OC-032, DIFO FK-001, WLOTA 1280, DDFM 988), until February 2014. Activity has been on 80-10 meters using mostly CW and some PSK, with a Elecraft K3 and dipoles and long wire antennas. Freddy will team up with Mic/FK8IK and Sam/FK8DD, in Noumea using the special callsign TX8B (confirmed as November 14th) for the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 23-24th). V4, ST. KITTS (Update)

"Originally licensed as V47AJ in 1999 and pleased to be returning to St. Kitts (NA-104) again on January 21, 2014, for a one month vacation and holiday style operation. Our son, Bernie (W3UR) and his wife, Becky, our daughter, Kristina, and her husband Dan will be with us for part of our vacation. We will use my Elecraft K3 on 160 through 10 meters via CW, RTTY and SSB with heavy emphasis on RTTY, and I plan to operate in the CQ WPX RTTY Contest in February. XT2/XT26, BURKINA FASO (Reminder)
Operators David/OK6DJ and Petr/OK1FCJ will be active as XT26DJ and XT2FCJ between November 17-26th. Activity will be on 160-10 meters including the 30/17/12 meters using CW and SSB. XV, VIETNAM
Ishida, JA4AGA, who is part of the XV2V40J team to commemor- ation 40 years of the Japan-Vietnam establishment of diplomatic relations (QSL via JF1HJZ), was heard active as XV2AG. He plans to be active until November 30th. QSL via his home callsign.

XZ, MYANMAR (Update)
By the time you read this, Zorro, JH1AJT, and a group of operators should be on the air as XZ1J from Nay Pyi Taw until November 26th. This will be the third and final run for 2013 from XZ-land. YL95, LATVIA (Special Prefix)
In honor of the 95th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Latvia in November and December 2013, members of the Latvian Contest Club will use the special prefix YL95. Expect YL95AIW, YL95AJA, YL95CI, YL95CW, YL95DQ, YL95DW, YL95GQT, YL95GY, YL95KF, YL95KL and YL95UI to be on the bands. For QSL info, follow the operators' instructions, but in most of cases use LoTW, eQSL, by the Bureau or direct to their home callsign is OK.

YN, NICARAGUA (Update)
Mike, AJ9C, will once again be active as YN2CC from Granada, Nicaragua, between November 19-27th. Activity will be on 160-6 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. Z8, SOUTH SUDAN (Press Release by OH2BH; dated November 12th) [edited]:

"THE Z81X GROUP IS DEPARTING TODAY, WEDNESDAY AT 1100 UTC -- The group consists of DL3DXX, N7NG, PB2T, OH0XX, OH2BH, OH2PM and OH6KN. Upon their arrival they will team up with Z81B and Z81D and start doing two projects simultaneously. They will set up their low-band antenna field and start a series of workshops for the government of South Sudan. At least on one station should be operational by late Friday evening.

Their selected low-band operating frequencies are 1826.5 KHz and 3523 KHz. On the other house-hold bands 7 MHz thru 28 MHz you can find them at suitable portions of those bands. Check Internet spotting for current frequencies. As the operation will be running for two-weeks, SSB operation on low-bands will come on-line later during the stay – specifically during the 2nd weekend with CQWW on CW. During the contest there may be as many as three single- band stations activated. OQRS is functional at Z81X at QRZ.com. All support for the high freight cost of the equipment will be highly appreciated. Z81X via OH0XX."

Subject : 8th EPC BPSK63 QSO Party 2013

Dear Fellow Radio Amateurs,

The European PSK Club has the honour to invite the radio amateurs all over the world to participate in the 8th EPC BSK63 QSO Party 2013. The objective of the competition is to establish as many contacts as possible between radio amateurs around the world by using the BPSK63 mode. Every- body can work everybody for QSO and multiplier credit. The Contest is annually held at the third weekend in November on 160, 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 meters bands.

Starting time is at 00:00 UTC, and ending time is at 24:00 UTC on Sunday 17 November, 2013.

There are no separate entrant categories in the competition; all partic- ipants work as SINGLE-OP ALL (Single Operator - All Bands). All stations at which one performs do all of the operating, logging, and spotting functions. Only one signal is allowed at any one time. The operator may change bands at any time. The output power shall not exceed 100 watts.

EPC members should send signal report plus EPC membership number (example – 599 EPC00001). Please make sure that you don't separate «EPC» from the «Number», and you don't use any characters between. Please make sure that your EPC number consists of 5 digits. Other stations should send signal report plus QSO number, starting 001 (example – 599 001).

First, second and third place certificates will be awarded in the World and every continent. First place certificates will be awarded in every participating DXCC country. All scores will be published on the EPC website. All certificates will be issued to the licensee of the station used. All certificates will be issued in a PDF format.
