VK9M, MELLISH REEF (Update)
The VK9MT Pilot station sent out the following
important updates over the past 24 hours:
Mellish Reef Update - April 4 0910 (local)
The weather continues to be extremely windy, with occasional heavy rain.
The antennas are taking a severe beating in the wind but they are still
working. The operating tents are shaking and very noisy so the op might
have trouble hearing your call. Today at noon (local) the skipper will
decide if we stay until tomorrow or leave today. He would like to keep
us transmitting as long as possible, yet maintain a margin of safety.

Mellish Reef Update April 4 12:50PM (local)
The skipper is watching the weather maps throughout today and into the
night. He'll reassess the situation tomorrow morning and make a decision.
The tents are holding up well, but with the wind noise and flapping of
the tent walls is quite noisy we're having some difficulty with the
noise. The antennas continue to play well, however they are somewhat
bent over by the high winds and need continual maintenance. The team
is holding up very well, other than one cut finger, no other injuries.
We're working on the logs and will send an update shortly after this
bulletin goes out. We're making about 7,000 Qs a day, propagation
drops out several times a day. The productive bands are the usual HF
frequencies. The Pilot reports are coming in on a regular basis and
we review at each shift change.
