NCDXF NEWS (Press Release: Major grant to FT4/J Juan de Nova DXpedition)
[dated June 12th]:
The Northern California DX Foundation is pleased to
announce a contribution of 25,000 USDs to the FT4/J Juan de Nova Island
DXpedition planned for March 2016. Juan de Nova will be #8 or #9 on the
DX Magazine's Most Wanted List in early 2016. It will be #5 on ClubLog's
Most Wanted List.
Without major financial support from NCDXF, DXpeditions like this to challenging or rare locations would not be possible.
http://www.juandenovadx.com/en/ has more details. Juan de Nova is a very small and very environmentally fragile area. There are strict limita- tions to the number of visitors and the time allowable on the island. The team's antenna plans, pilot feedback plans and enthusiasm should make this entity available to many DXers.
For the past 42 years the NCDXF has funded major DXpeditions to many Most Wanted Entities.
The credit for these large grants goes to the NCDXF contributors, individuals and clubs, who make DX like this possible. Have you contributed yet?

NCDXF Vice President

OJ0B NEWS FROM MARKET REEF (From Jarmo, OH2BN) -- Dated June 11th:
The
OJ0B DXpedition with an emphasis on 2M EME and MS is turning into a great
success story with more than 250 QSOs in the books. The operation will
continue until next Monday, still shooting straight at the surface of
the moon. For participating HF DXers, it is quite a thrill and an eye-
opener to realize that instead of radio propagation, not only a Market
Reef moon over the horizon is needed but also a U.S. moon and a Japan
moon.
And when the moon is gone, the meteor scatter mode can be used; thus there are pileups all over the place the moon and the meteors and even 6M sporadic-E are operational although not much is heard so far. A lot of new high tech and new terminology for HF people to swallow, with signals often inaudible below the noise floor. HF guys are asking whether there is DQRM on the surface of the moon surface. Only the 2M team of OH6ZZ and OH8MSM will know.
So here's is the link to those who were shooting right at the moon, plus Jussi, OH6ZZ who is in charge of the historic 2M outing:
And this is the Honor Roll:
First Ten, World: IK1UWL, SP4K, UA3PTW, ON4AOI, I3MEK, PE1L, OH2BC,
DL1RPL, IK3MAC and HA8CL
First Ten, USA: K9MRI, NT0V, WA4NJP, K1OR, W6BBS, N9HF, AA4SC, KB8RQ, K5QE and K6EME
On HF the focus has been largely on 10 MHz because HF propagation has not been favorable. Part of the team will change on Saturday as Martti, OH2BH, and Kim, OH6KZP, will land on the rocks bringing more SSB and RTTY activity to those who Deserve. Pekka, OH2TA, and Niko, OH2GEK, will return to Aland Islands. The weather has been nice and the tag team was able to repair the damaged structures and the beam. The station is fully operational at present and from now on.
OQRS will be delayed as EME QSOS are logged on paper and the PC screen is busy with multiple applications.
Stay tuned for OJ0B for all kinds of odd modes and transmissions. It is sunny on Market Reef - the season's record temperatures are expected for this Saturday.
QSL via OH2BH
