Olof, G0CKV, will once again be active as 3B9HA from Rodrigues Islands (AF-017) during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 26-27th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. QSL via LoTW.

3D2, FIJI
Operators Aki/JA1NLX and Iko/JI1CNA will be active as 3D2YA from Mana Island (OC-121) between October 21-25th. Activity will be on 40-10 meters using mainly CW, but also SSB and RTTY with a 100W rig and Vertical antennas. Suggested frequencies are:

3W2, VIETNAM
Mike, N0ODK, will once again be active as 3W2DK from Ho Chi Minh City between October 20th and November 5th. Activity will be on 40/20/17/15/10 meters using SSB, with some CW and the Digital modes. Also, look for him to be in the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th) as a Single-Op/Low-Power entry. QSL via N0ODK, direct, by the Bureau or LoTW. 8P, BARBADOS
Operators Anna/W6NN and Rich/KE1B will be active as 8P6NN and 8P6MM, respectively, from Barbados (NA-021) between July 11-16th. Activity will be on 40-10 meters using a K3S running 100 watts into a Buddipole antenna. QSL all callsigns via KE1B, direct, by the Bureau, LoTW, eQSL or Club's OQRS.

9K, KUWAIT (Early Announcement)
Abdallah, 9K2GS, will be active as 9K2K during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. QSL via LoTW or ClubLog.

9Q0/9Q1, DEM. REP. OF THE CONGO
YL Elvira, IV3FSG, will be active from two different locations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo signing 9Q0HQ/1 between April 22-30th, and as 9Q0HQ between May 1-22nd. Activity will be on 80-10 meters using SSB, RTTY and PSK31 using 100 watts into a dipole antenna. QSL via IK3GES.

AU6, INDIA (Special Event)
Operators Datta/VU2DSI, Jagadev/VU3WON, Omprakssh/VU2KOC, Bhaskar/VU2BRJ, Puranik/VU3KOD, Siddhu/VU3NXU and Suhas/SWL are now active as AU6HAP from Hampi, the capital of the great "Vijayanagar Empire" during the period 1336-1556 AD, until April 20th. Hampi is situated on the southern bank of river Tungabhadra in Karnataka state in India. Hampi has many hundreds of monuments, temples, ancient irrigation projects, palaces & buildings spread over 26 sq.kms. The reason for their activity is to tell the world the glory & the prosperity of this great "forgotten kingdom" of "VIJAYANAGAR". Suggesedt frequencies of operation are 7035, 7150, 14210, 14250, 21235, 21350, 28450 and 28545 kHz (depending on the propagation). QSL via VU2DSI. See QRZ.com for more details about this operation.

EP, IRAN (Reminder)

FT4JA JUAN DE NOVA DXPEDITION NEWS
Press Release April 15th (We were ready!):
The entire FT4JA team is now safe back in Mayotte after 2 days on the sea.

Just a bit more than 2 weeks ago we were arriving on Juan de Nova. A French island in the middle of the Mozambique Channel. It took us one and a half day to set-up our camp: shelters, generators, antennas, stations. We started our operations in the afternoon of March 30th.

Immediately, all stations were on the air and the pileups were big, as expected!

As planned, we did not waste one minute and we started following the propagation plan to give everyone a chance. Orienting the pileup by area was not too difficult and almost everyone was collaborating, understanding the propagation rules.

With only 10 op to manage radios and the life at the camp, we achieved to keep a 10 000 qsos per day rate! We did not slept much!

Thanks to a good setup, and been on right frequency at the right time, even the most difficult areas to contact got their chances. We had long runs with NA west coast with huge signals on many bands, as well as VK/ZL area. It was not a surprise to get the longer and stronger openings with EU and JA. People in AF and SA got also opportunities.

The home-made VDA antennas on high band performed very well one more time, giving us excellent signals. They were even over performing at high tide!

The low band setup performed pretty well. As usual finding a good com- promise for receiving on 80-160 required a couple of days. We spent hours trying to improve the systems and make changes up to a reliable solution. The noise level is this areas was often very high, with lightnings over the ocean every nights. It seams that the top band signal was quite strong everywhere that everyone thought he should be heard easily by FT4JA. Keep in mind that it’s a two way radio contact and that your signal should reach the DX station too ! By the way, 2331 qso on 160 and 3523 on 80 seams a good result.

Conditions on Juan de Nova have been very difficult, sometimes dangerous for the health of ops. Temperature were incredibly high, sometimes with no wind at all. Even the water of the lagoon was so hot that is was useless to refresh ops! Swimming sessions were very limited due to the presence of sharks that are never very far from the shore. We had quite a long walk between the radio and life camp, involving 12 hours shifts. Some days we had to face storms that damage antennas or generators shelter, requiring lot of work by ops to fix things without interrupting the operation.

All the equipment ran under hard conditions but we didn’t got a single failure. Once more, we have been impressed by the Elecraft K3. The addition of the new SPE Expert 1.3 amplifiers appears to be an excellent choice. None of them even turn on protection once. All others parts and accessories supplied by Spiderbeam, Messi & Paolini, Dx Engineening/KD9SV, Microham, Modmic, SunSDR, GM0OBX cables did a wonderful job and have contributed to the success of the operation.

We managed to keep good rates, and stay focused on the propagation to give a chance to everyone. 25 156 unique calls is a satisfaction even if we regret that some of you have not been able to come through. Even stations with a very small setup have been able to make a contact.

In addition to the amateur radio aspects, we were concerned by the pre- servation of the nature and environment. We will explain later all the actions conducted all along the operation. The island was left exactly like it was when we arrived. That should be, and that is really a priority is our hamradio DXpeditions.

As you know, the OQRS system has been turned on. We highly recommend you to use it for your qsl cards request. As a reminder, we will use a special envelop and stamps, like we did for Tromelin. Do not hesitate to add a donation, even a small one, to help us to balance the cost of the project. We will design the card in the coming days and print it as soon as pos- sible. LoTW upload will be done after the first batch of corrections.

FT4JA is now QRT with 105,570 is the log. We sincerely hope you had the same pleasure as us in that adventure. Thank you for all your kind emails and comments. We’ll probably not be able to reply to all of them but let us tell you THANK YOU!

This is not over, we still have to get all the equipment back in France, work on articles, video. Team members will try to come and tell you our story in different conventions, meetings, etc.

This project was made possible thanks to TAAF. Not only for all author- izations, but also for all the help and support provided from the begin- ning to the end of the project. They have a very important mission in protecting this islands. Let’s hope, that through our amateur radio ex- peditions we can continue to support their actions.

AS-200. Operators Take/JI3DST and Nao/JA5DCH will be active from Shodo Island (Shikoku's Coastal Islands) between 0700z, April 29th and 0000z, May 5th. Activity will be on 40/30/20/17/15/12/10 meters using CW, SSB, FM and RTTY. There will be two different callsigns used:

OC-215. Robby, YD4IRS, will be active as YD4IRS/5 from North Pagai Island, Mentawai, West Sumatra, between April 19-23rd. He will be there to attend the 2016 Mentawai Festival. Activity will be on 80/40/15/10 meters using mainly CW. However, there may be a chance of 80/40 meters SSB (since his license allows him to use SSB at those bands). Equipment will be a Yaesu FT-857D and Vertical Diamond KV-5. All QSOs will be uploaded to eQSL, LoTW, ClubLog and maybe some other online logbook as soon as possible. Part of their activity is to be an entry during the IARU HF World Cham- pionship (July 9-10th) as a Multi-Op using the callsign J87HQ as a IARU HQ multiplier station for the St. Vincent & the Grenadines Amateur Radio Club (SVGARC) for the first time ever. To commemorate the 225th anniversary of the birth of Samuel Finley Breese Morse, the Group of Special Activities Telegraphy Cuba (GCWC) will activate special event station T47GCWC for 4 hours on CW starting at 2200z on April 27th on the 40 meters band. A special QSL will be awarded to stations that make a contact. The QSL will be sent via the Bureau.

T8, PALAU
Operators Mike/JA6EGL and Ichy/JH7IPR, are once again active as T88SM and T88UW, respectively, from the VIP Guest Hotel (Free Radio Room) on Koror Island (OC-009) until April 19th. TN, CONGO (REPUBLIC OF)
Philippe, F5MVB, is reporting that he and another French operator, Joel, F5AOW, will be active from Brazzaville sometime in April-May as TN2MP and TN2BJ. Stay tuned for more information.

V3, BELIZE

V6, MICRONESIA
Operators Sho/JA7HMZ and Masahiko/JA7EPO will be active as V63DX and V63IX, respectively, from Pohnpei Island (OC-010) between June 17-25th. Activity will be on 80-6 meters using PSK and JT65 modes. QSL via their home callsigns, direct or LoTW.

VK0EK HEARD ISLAND DXPEDITION NEWS
The VK0EK DXpedition is QRT as of April 11th, departure was on the 12th. QSL VK0EK via M0URX, direct or the OQRS (recommended) or LoTW. After the end of the operation, you can order either a Bureau or direct QSL card using the OQRS which will be processed by the QSL Manager (Tim Beaumont, M0URX). W9DXCC CONVENTION NEWS
(FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) (April. 16, 2016) ­ The 64th annual W9DXCC DX Convention and Banquet will be held September 16-17th, 2016, in Schaumburg, Illinois. Sponsored by the Northern Illinois DX Association, the event is an ARRL-approved operating specialty convention. Contest University and DX University programs will both be held on Friday, with presentations for new and veteran DXers and contest operators. The daylong session on Saturday will feature speakers, exhibits, QSL card checking, a CW pileup contest and many prizes.
