9U4M BURUNDI DXPEDITION (Press Release #4). Mediterraneo DX Club (MDXC)
sent out the following on September 6th [edited]: Great news expecially
for the lovers of digital modes. The international MDXC team is working
to build the new DXpedition from Burundi with the callsign 9U4M, and
will be on air also with the new FT8 digital mode. Called FT-8 (Franke-
Taylor design, 8FSK modulation) will be another good way to catch the
weak signals. As a matter of fact a weak signal mode that is not as
sensitive to JT-65/9, but definitely something that will work when voice
and CW will not.
We remind that the team will be on air from November 6th to November
17th, just on the banks of the Tanganyika Lake, Bujumbura, to operate
24/24 hours with 5 stations with a particular focus to low bands, WARC
and “old and new” Digital modes.
Antonio, IZ8CCW (leader), and Gabriele, I2VGW (co-leader of the team),
will share this new DXpedition with the others 18 members from eight
countries. For any further news and updates please visit the official
Web site at: http://www.mdxc.org/9u4m
Of course any donation and sponsorship will be very very appreciated
by the entire team!

from the Polish Antarctic H. Arctowski. Station is located on the King
George Island, South Shetland Islands (AN-010, WW Loc. GC07su), until
October 23rd. The callsign HF0ARC is new for the Polish Antarctic Station.
The old historical callsign HF0POL was taken by SP9GMK. Sebastian will be
using 100 watts and into a SP1BKS Delta Loop antenna. Suggested times
of operations are 20m (2100-2200z) and 40m (2200-2300z) using SSB, JT65
or JT9. QSL via his home callsign.

IOTA NEWS..............
EU-037. Frank, DL2SWW, will be active as SD7W from Oland Island between
September 19-21st. QSL via the Bureau to DL2SWW.

EU-059. John, G4LTH, will be active as GM4LTH/P from Hirta Island
between September 15-16th. Activation is very dependent on
the weather. QSL via G4LTH direct.

EU-068. Fabien/F4GYM, will be active as F4GYM/P from Sein Island
between October 5-8th. Activity will be on 80-10 meters using
SSB, PSK, RTTY and a little CW. QSL via F4GYM, direct, by the
           Bureau or ClubLog.

EU-112. John, G4LTH, will be active as GM4LTH/P from Shiant Island
on September 18th. Activation is very dependent on the weather.
           QSL via G4LTH direct.

EU-118. John, G4LTH, will be active as GM4LTH/P from Flannan Isles
on September 16th. Activation is very dependent on the weather.
           QSL via G4LTH direct.

EU-171. Tom, DL4VM, will be active as OZ/DL4VM from Vendsyssel-Thy/
Nordjylland between September 15th and October 7th. Activity
will be holiday style on 40/20 meters. QSL via his home callsign,
           direct or by the Bureau.

EU-187. Jörg, DM1OS, will be active as SV9/DM1OS from Gavdos Island
between September 23-25th. Activity will be holiday style on
various IOTA HF bands using SSB. QSL via DM1OS by the Bureau.

J3, GRENADA. Wayde, KD2NOP, will be active as J3/KD2NOP from Grenada
(NA-024) between now and September 30th. Grenada is known as the Spice
Isle and boasts that they have the most variety of spices per square mile
than any other place on earth. Activity will be on various HF bands using
FT8, JT65 and possibly other Digital modes. QSL via LoTW.

KH9, WAKE ISLAND. Terry, K7ASU, is currently operating from Wake Island
as K7ASU/KH9 and activity will last until September 17th. However, activity
will be sporadic due to his work on the island. Activity has been on 40/20
meters using CW. Listen for him around 7003 kHz between 0730-0830z and
on 14027 kHz around 0900Z. Terry informs OPDX that operations will only
be CW because he doesn't want to disturb his neighbors due to the living
conditions being like a dorm. His equipment is a Kenwood TS-480HX (donated
by Bob, K7BHM) running at 50w into a R7 antenna at 40 feet. Another reason
Terry operates in the low CW portions on 40 and 20 meters is that his
antenna does not tune in the upper portions -- high VSWR. He also mentioned,
"The last time I operated was September of 2004, also from Wake Island.
If you want a better chance of reaching me, please slow down on the code
speed. I am pretty rusty." QSL via his home callsign. Terry plans to add
LoTW later.

MJ, JERSEY. Kazunori, M0CFW/JK3GAD, will once again be active as MJ5Z
during the CQWW DX RTTY Contest (September 23-24th) as a Single-Op/All-
Band/Low-Power entry. Look for activity before and after the contest
using the callsign MJ0CFW. QSL for both callsigns via M0CFW, ClubLog's
OQRS or LoTW.

REALTIME BAND CONDITIONS WEB SITE :
The purpose of this experimental Web site is to provide 24-7-365 actual
(REALTIME) band condition information to CW QRPp, QRPe and CW/SSB for
Contesters interested in increasing their scores. It can also be of
benefit to other Radio Amateurs to determine band conditions for Nets
and casual QSO's. This information is NOT based on any software pre-
dictions or any kind of satellite based readings. It is based on a
new Ionospheric sounding method called "HF Ionospheric Interferometry"
which operates very similarly to the PolSAR system used by NASA.
