2021 INTERNATIONAL DX & CONTESTING CONVENTION [IDXCC]. John Miller/K6MM
and Rich Seifert/KE1B, from the Northern California DX Club, posted the
following: The challenge for 2021 -- Should we plan for an in-person
convention in Visalia or a Virtual meeting? Everyone wants to hold out
hope for a face-to-face meeting next year, but we have to ask, "What
will our 'new normal' lifestyle be like next Apriland can we guarantee
a 'Covid-Free' environment for our attendees?" After consultation with
a few medical experts, epidemiologists, and long-time attendees of IDXCC,
we have concluded that for 2021, the right choice -- and the safest choice
-- is to have a Virtual Convention instead of an in-person meeting."
Two Weekend days were mentioned in April 2021:
    Part 1: Friday, April 16-18th
    Part 2: Friday, April 23-25th
Note: Each weekend will be a unique 3-day event, not duplicates
Formal Online Registration: Early 2021 - exact dates TBD

FINAL BELL (Press Release, dated June 12th, by Martti, OH2BH)[edited].
GLOBAL STAYHOME CAMPAIGN REACHED ITS HIGHPOINT -- On June 6th & 7th,
over 6000 worldwide participants made the COVID-19 Radio Communication
Event a great success. While the logs are still coming in (over 800 at
this time) some interesting statistics have already surfaced.
The number of countries that participated in the event is more than
120 and the total number of participants was a lot higher than expected.
Ten OH*STAYHOME stations with 45 operators resulted 29039 QSOs. (STAYHOME
OH Total 132,000). The STAYHOME category was won by ZW5STAYHOME with 4050
QSOs followed not far behind by OH1STAYHOME with 3797 QSOs. The highest
Single Operator category score is still unknown at this time as the logs
are still coming in. Several high scorer WRTC operators were participating,
even the winner LY9A.
As the COVID-19 pandemic is in different phases in different countries,
this is not the finish of the STAYHOME campaign as only parts of EU and
NA are slowly taking steps towards a normal life. We all pray to God for
those areas and countries that are still suffering in the hands of this
unfortunate virus. We are unified as one to help one to another - people
and countries!
The final report for the June 6th & 7th event will be released in a
few weeks and it will be followed by a lottery for the great prizes
provided by the event organizers and Yaesu Musen Co. Details on the
prizes are available here: http://ko8sca.com/prizes.pdf

SUMMARY: The COVID-19 Radio Communication Event was a global virtual
Amateur Radio gathering, passing well-being messages among radio operators
worldwide thus sharing the airwaves during this unfortunate global COVID-19
pandemic and promoting a sense of belonging and mental health. It was not
a contest although it was conducted in a contest-like fashion.
The event organizers are DX-ers and contesters who along with a variety
of organizations and supporters were able to keep the airwaves alive
together with the entire ham radio community. The STAYHOME campaign is
ever grateful to all who supported the organizers main mission of being
active on the radio during these difficult times.

TF, ICELAND (Postponed). Operators Mek/SP7VC and Kate/SQ7OYL, who were
expected be active as TF/SP7VC and TF/SQ7OYL, respectively, from various
locations in Iceland between July 24th and August 13th, have postponed
their operations. Mek, SP7VC, reports on their BLOG page: "Due to COVID-19
restrictions on crossing the Danish (OZ) border for foreigners, there's
no chance we can't get our tickets usable. We have no guarantee at all,
that we will be allowed to get on a Ferry, as for now only Danish citizens,
their relatives and foreign workers with appropriate documents can cross the
OZ border. Unfortunately for us, Danish government did not mention anything
about chances to entry Denmark for persons who have bought Ferry tickets
to sail from their territory. Hard decision has to be made to ~ POSTPONE ~
our Iceland Trip until next Year 2021. All Paypal transfers will be soon
returned to the donors, or secured on demand for next Year. Please contact
me at sp7vc(at)wp.pl if there's any PP address change." For more details
and possibly updates, see: https://iceland2k20.blogspot.com

VP8, FALKLAND ISLAND. Look for VP8HDM/A [HDM suffix = Historical Dock-
yard Museum] to be active during the 2020 International Museum Weekends.
Normally, operations are from the Historic Dockyard Museum in Stanley,
Falkland Islands (SA-002), but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, VP8HDM/A
will operate from "alternative locations" between June 20-21st and 27-28th
weekends. QSL via VP8LP. For more details about the International Museums
Weekends, see: http://www.radio-amateur-events.org/IMW
