3B6, AGALEGA (POSTPONED)
If you are not an OPDX InterNet Subscriber,
you may have missed the special bulletin announcing that the 3B6RF
operation was postponed (Click on the links below to SUBSCRIBE). Basically,
officials of the newly elected Mauritius Government have asked the team
to postpone the expedition for 2-3 weeks for security reasons. Since
there are only two regular ships per year heading to 3B6 they have to
postpone their activity for six months until May 2001. For more details

3W/DU/XU, SOUTHEAST ASIAN TRIP
Andy, G4ZVJ, will be on vacation in South
East Asia between October 13th and November 11th. There may be some CW
activity from the following countries:
3W (Vietnam) - October 15-22nd, callsign assigned upon arrival.
XU (Cambodia) - October 23-26th, callsign XU7AAV
DU (Philippines) - October 29th- November 10th, callsign DU3/G4ZVJ

4W, EAST TIMOR
Dennis/K7BV, Made/YB9BV and Dick/N6FF are now active.
As of of publication, the only station spotted so far is 4W/K7BV on
40/30/20/17 meters CW. Two stations are expected to be active. Keep a
lookout for 4W/N6FF. According to one of the press releases, a big decision
was made that 4W/N6FF will be the callsign used on 160 and 80 meters. The
4W/K7BV callsign will be used on all other bands. QSL via KU9C. Also,

5R, MADAGASCAR (SLIM NOT!)
A few weeks ago OPDX received a report on
a possible SLIM operation by 5R8O. This station continues to be active
on 20 meter CW signing with the callsign 5R8O, giving his name as Albert
and his QTH as Tananarive, Madagascar. He also is saying QSL via 5R8FL.
However, thanks to Ed, NA5G, who has been in contact with 5R8FL the
following status report was given on 5R8O. Andreas, 5R8FL, states that
the station "is legal, his callsign is a bit special because he operates
inside the Gendarmerie county. So to simplify the QSL reception, he
ask me to be his QSL manager." WFWL!
IRANIAN WEB PAGE
Mac, W3HC, reports that for those who are interested,
he has a Web page for Iran up and running. Any news he receives from
Iran will be posted on:
8R, GUYANA
"THE 59(9) DX REPORT" reports that Arliss, W7XU, will be
active from here (after the FY operation, see below) October 30th through
November 7th as 8R/W7XU. Activity will be on 50.110 MHz CW and SSB,
coordinating on 28885 kHz. QSL via W7XU.
9G. GHANA
A group from the Netherlands will be active from here October
6-24th. They plan to use the callsign 9G1AA plus their own 9G5 callsigns.
Activity will be on 80/40/20 meters CW and 6 meter SSB. Also, there may
be some activity on 160 meters.
9M STATIONS ON 6 METERS
Tex, 9M2TO, reports that this season 9M2 6 meter
stations (9M2NK, 9M2KE, 9M2KT, 9M2TO, 9M2XA and 9M2/JI1ETU) are looking
for EUs, NAs and SAs on 6 meters. They know that they have a "SHORT-PASS-
OPENINGS-EUs" at 0700z (+/-) in November, but they do not know the other
passes for the areas. Please watch for the 9M2TO/B beacon on 50.005 MHz
running 24 hours and inform them. The 9M2 station check the DX-SUMMIT

9M6, EAST MALAYSIA
The Cinco Nueve Contest Group will be active from the
Hillview Gardens Resort from October 21st through November 2nd. The
operators include Al/K7AR, Lee/N7NU, Bob/W7YAQ, Bob/W7RR and Dave/N6NZ.
The group will be a Multi-Single operation using the callsign 9M6AAC during
the CQWW SSB Contest. Outside the contest the group will be using their
own callsigns, still waiting to be issued. Check the group web site at:
A5, BHUTAN (Update)
Charly, K4VUD, reported this past week that he has
applied for the callsign A52UD for his operation in December. He also
states the following: "As of today (October 4th), two hams are slated to
arrive in A5 on December 1, 2000. The 1KW xmit power is ok-ed (with an
extra fee!!!). If we can get a third ham on this trip, all three of us
will save some money on Bhutan's tourist fees for groups of 3 or more.
Come on, just need one more daring adventurer for this trip!" Charly's

E30, ERITREA
Chris/DL5NAM and Dieter/DF4RD are going to be active and
have confirmed the date of October 17th through November 1st. Callsigns
are still unknown and will be issued after their arrival in Asmara. Activity
will be on 160-6 meters on SSB, CW, RTTY and PSK31 including participation
in the CQWW DX SSB Contest. They will operate from the Nyala Hotel (QTH
of E30GA). QSL via home callsigns. OPDX InterNet Subscribers will receive
the press release as an additional bulletin.
FS, ST. MARTIN
A report indicates that members of the NJDXA will be
active from here soon or possibly during the CQWW DX Contest. Operators
mentioned are K2CO, N2BIM and possibly others.
FY, FRENCH GUYANA
"THE 59(9) DX REPORT" reports that Arliss, W7XU, will
be active as FY/W7XU October 27-30th on the same plan as 8R (above).
GD, ISLE OF MAN
Joe/K1JB and Mike/K1EU are expected to sign GD6IA from
October 26-29th. Activity will include an entry in the CQWW SSB Contest
with operations on 160-6 meters CW/SSB.
GJ, JERSEY (Update to OPDX.473)
Barry, N0KV (M0CQS), provides OPDX with
the following update concerning the upcoming operation from the Jersey
Amateur Radio Society club station, October 23-30th. The group of operators
is finalized now and includes members of the Mile High DX Association
(Denver, CO) and the Darley Amateur Radio Club (UK). The callsigns are:
GJ1Y (CQWW contest only) GJ0HHY (outside contest)
MJ/N0KV (outside contest) MJ/KU4CG (outside contest)
MJ/W0DM (outside contest)
The group of operators will be active from LaMoye, Jersey, Channel
Islands, UK (Zone 14), as a Multi/Single entry in the CQWW SSB Contest.
Operation outside the contest will be CW, SSB, and possibly PSK31,
starting Monday, October 23rd, and ending after the contest. Activity
will take place largely day/evening hours (local) before the contest.
The station is located in "Worked All Britain" square WV64, and Jersey
is IOTA EU-013. There will be two stations:
Station 1: IC-756PRO, Alpha amp (400W), A3 tri-bander, R7000(WARC),
bandpass filter
Station 2: IC-756, club tri-bander, 40/80M dipoles, bandpass filter
QSL via N0KV (CBA: 12200 Boothill Dr., Parker, CO 80138), except MJ/KU4CG
goes via KU4CG CBA.
HC, ECUADOR
Once again Doctor Rick, NE8Z, will be operating as HC1MD
from here, November 25th through December 11th. Activity will be on 40-10
meters CW/SSB (500 watts) and 6 meters (10 watts). He will travel to
different areas in Ecuador and will sign: HC1MD, HC1MD/HC2, HC3, HC6 and
HC7. Rick will also be looking for the following new DXCC entities for
his HC1MD DXCC: East Timor, Austral Islands and Laos (any assistance/ideas

IOTA NEWS
AF-018. The Pantelleria Contest Team, IH9P, will once again travel to
Pantelleria Island (CQWW zone 33, African Italy, IIA:TP-01) for
this year's CQWW SSB contest at the end of October. The Pantel-
leria's Team's goal will be to be more competitive than in 1999's
effort, with the addition of a few new operators, new antenna
systems and a new site located just few meters far from salt
water. The team will be arriving on the island on October 22nd
and should be testing the station installations by Thursday. This
year's team members include KR7X, W1NA, W7ZB, OL5Y, I2IFT, IK2ANI,
IK2CIO, IK2HKT, IK2RZP, IK2YCN, IN3QBR, I8QLS, IK8ETA, IT9BLB,
IT9VDQ, IT9WPO, IT9ZGY and IT9ZMX. This year's operation looks
again to be an all FT-1000 MP effort with assorted amplifiers.
Team Pantelleria (IH9P) looks forward to being your zone 33
multiplier for the contest and working all of you in the contest.

OC-140. The VK6 DX Chasers Club will be active from Direction Island
November 5-13th. Direction Island is part of the Mackerel Islands
of which Thevenard Island has been activated previously by Mal,
VK6LC. The Island is located 12 Km offshore from the small West
Australian town of Onslow in the state's North West and some
1400 Km by road from the capital city, Perth. A group of 10
operators will activate the island with 4 HF stations. Six meter
operations will also be included. This is the same group that
activated Woody Island (OC-170) in March 1999. The callsign to
be used will be VK6DIR and operation will be on 40-6 meters,
including the WARC bands. 75/80 meter operations will be at-
tempted but hopes are not high for any great success on that
band due to the latitude and time of year. QSL via Neil, VK6NE.

OC-212. Look for Broughton Island to be on the air now through October
15th. Activity will be on all bands 80-6 meters, CW, SSB, PSK31
and 29 MHz FM if band is open. The callsign is VI2BI, and the
operators are:

CW - Frank/VK2ZL, Ray/VK2ARY and Don/VK2ADM

J8, ST. VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES (Update)
Angel, WA2VUY, informs OPDX
that their team of operators have received the special callsign J80WW
(J8 Zero WW) to be used during the CQWW SSB Contest. Please refer to
KH2, GUAM ISLAND
Look for Masanori/AA9WZ, JA1OBY, Hiroshi/JA1XHE,
JH1FUD, Hiroshi/JL1LOW and JR1XIM to be active on IOTA OC-026 from
October 26-30th. They will be active on HF bands including WARC bands
SSB, CW and digital modes. QSL via the bureau to each home callsign or

KH5/KH5K, PALMYRA & KINGMAN REEF
By the time you read this, the KRPDXG
team should be on their way to Palmyra. The Hawaii operators KH7U, NH6UY,
WB4JTT and KH6ND, along with Captain Bill Austin and his crew on the motor
schooner Machias, should have departed from Christmas Island this past
weekend to pick up Mike, KH6ND, from Palmyra to head to Kingman Reef.
Activity is to begin on October 18th. Suggested frequencies are:
CW - 1826.5, 3503, 7003, 10103, 14023, 18073, 21023, 24893, 28023, 50105
SSB - 1826.5, 3795, 7065, 14195, 18145, 21295, 24945, 28465, 50105
RTTY - 7043, 14083, 28083 kHz
Other suggested frequencies: U.S. General operators are to look on 20
meters SSB on 14245 kHz and on 40 meters CW on 7023 kHz. JA stations are
to look for them on an alternate 160 meters frequency on 1824 kHz. Look
on 6 meters for a breakable beacon (TX 50105/RX 50115) and also listen
to 28885 kHz.
OD, LEBANON
Pavel, OD5/OK1MU, has confirmed that he is now active also
on 50 MHz and 144 MHz. He is using the following equipment: for 50 MHz
100W + 5 el. Yagi; for 144 MHz 100W + 10 el. DL6WU. His on-line log is

OH0, ALAND ISLAND
Ari, OH1EH, informs OPDX that after several antenna
parties, the Aland Islands contest station is ready to hit the airwaves
with several new antennas, including a 3 element full-sized 80m delta-loop.

OOOPPPSS DEPARTMENT
In last week's bulletin, OPDX.479, under "9X, RWANDA"
Charlie's callsign should have been N4CT not N4XT. Also, under "KH0,
MARIANA ISLAND", the callsign "KH2F" was inserted instead of NH0S for one
of the operators.
QSL INFO AND NEWS
Tex, 9M2TO, reports that all the September QSOs QSLs including the WAE
and RTTY contests have been sent out to the JARL Bureau on October 2nd.
New Address. Beginning October 1, 2000, the QSL Manager for 3W7CW has
a new address. ONLY QSL to Adam, SP5JTF, new address as follows:
Adam Perz, P.O.Box 12, 01-323 Warszawa 83, POLAND. The previous SP5AUC
address (P.O.BOX 11 Warszawa 93) is open only until the end of the year.
That post office has been relocated quite a distance away from SP5JTF, and
it has been quite complicated to check POB there regularly. Additionally,
a lot of IRCs and green stamps have been stolen from SASEs in that place.
Also, SP5JTF has an E-mail address, so you can ask him directly for QSLs:

The 3W7CW QSLs should be back from the printer probably early November
and all request should be answered by the end of this year.
Roberto, EA4DX, is glad to announce that 8Q7XX cards will be hitting your mailboxes this week. All cards received with postage up to September 30th, have been answered. More than 1200 envelopes received in the last two weeks have been carefully processed since his return from the Maldives. Some of you will have a turnaround of less than one week for your QSL. 7Q7TB and VP2MDC QSLs. Send DIRECT cards to G0IAS. However, Dave, G3TBK, is handling the bureau QSLs. Dave is sorry about the length of time taken to answer the cards, but his work schedule is large and his time in the UK is very limited, so PLEASE BE PATIENT... A couple of weeks should see ALL direct cards answered. Bureau cards should be complete by the month's end. Dave will be back in J3-land at the end of the month and perhaps G0IAS will handle the cards (more about that when the picture unfolds....).
BI2J QSL Update. Mac, W3HC, reports that all photos and information for the BI2J cards have been received from Alan, BA1DU. Mac will send them to the printers this week.
Norby, LX1NO, reports that QSL requests for OZ1AA should be answered soon. He hopes to receive the cards from the printer by the end of this month. Your requests will then be answered as soon as possible.
R2, KALININGRAD (Attention Award and Prefix Hunters)
Ben, OZ5AAH, will
again be active from late afternoon October 30th through November 5th
around midnight from the club station in Kaliningrad as R2/OZ5IPA. Activity
will be on CW/SSB and also on the WARC band, but no 6 meter operations.
Ben will, of course, participate in the International Police Associations
Contest November 4-5th. QSL direct via his home callsign only: Ben Jakobsen,
9 Knoldager, DK-2670 Greve, Denmark (will be OK for most POLICE awards).

Roby, IZ3CYN, will be active as SV9/IZ3CYN from October
10-15th. Activity will be on 20/15/10 meters SSB. QSL via homecall.
SV/A, MOUNT ATHOS
"The DX News Letter" reports that Monk Apollo hits
the airwaves with the special callsign SY2A now through the end of the
year. QSL via the CBA of SV2ASP. OPDX spotted Monk Apollo on RTTY this
past week on 14086 kHz around 2045z.
TI, COSTA RICA
Look for a group of stateside operators to be active from
Quepos as K4QFF/TI8, October 7-14th. Activity will be on the satellites
UO-14, AO-27, SO-35 and RS-13. QSL via K4QFF.
VB2, CANADA (Additional info to OPDX.479)
Bob, VE3SRE, provides OPDX
with the following additional info on the upcoming VB2R operation. A team
of VE operators will be active from Zone 2 during the CQ World-Wide SSB
Contest and a few days before and after the contest. The operation will
be totally conducted under generator power from the James Bay Region in
northwest Quebec. Operators at this point are: VE3BY, VE3DXE, VE3SRE,
VE3VFT, VA3KO, VA3MFE, VE3VAM, VE3TV, VE3RMF, VE3DBF, VA3IX, NB1B, VE3KJS,
and VE3HAE. There is a special QSL card available commemorating the 100th
anniversary of the birth of E.S. (Ted) Rogers, pioneer Canadian amateur,
inventor of the "batteryless radio" and Canadian broadcasting pioneer.

VC5, CANADA (Update)
Todd, VE5MX, informed OPDX that the special callsign
VC5C assigned to him to be used between October 27-30th, is to commemorate
the 125th anniversary of the Supreme Court of Canada. Also, look for VC5C in
the CQWW SSB Contest as a Multi/Single entry. Sam, VE5SF, will be handling
the QSLing chores.
XF2, MEXICO (Attention Prefix Hunters!)
Jose Levy, XE1J, informs OPDX
that he will activate the prefix XF2 on the air for the first time. Look
for the callsign XF2UQZ to be active from the Isla de Sacrificios
(Veracruz, Mexico) from 2300z October 11th through 0300z October 13th.
Activity will be on 80-10 meters CW/SSB. QSL to XE1UQZ.
XU, CAMBODIA
You have only a few more days to work Toni/EA5RM and Pedro/
EA7DBO as XU7ABD. They will leave October 13th. Activity over the weekend
has been on 20/15/12/10 meters. QSL via EA4URE. The XU7ABD logs are

XW, LAOS
It has been reported that Toni, Z21KD, managed to get a license,
apparently valid until October 30th. The assigned callsign is XW4XJ. He
is expected to be active mainly on 20 and 10 meters SSB (w/100 watts)
presently. However, Toni will try other higher bands when he gets time
to set up more antennas. Keep in mind that he is not in Laos for a holiday,
so his operating schedule may vary. He was spotted on 10 meters over the
past weekend on 28460 kHz around 1345z. QSL via Z21KD, direct only:

My apologies to all the dx'ers in replying to the qsl requests. My father had a very bad pneumonia and he was in the hospital for the past few months as a result I was occupied with and the family for the duration.
He's doing fine by the grace of god and he will be home soon.
I was also very much occupied with other office work and so I was not able to mail the pending qsl requests will do the same at the earliest and keep all of you happy, please pass on this information to your friends not to send any green stamps to India($'s) mail is opened by the Postal department, IRC is fine and irc can be sent without any problems. A lot of my mail was lost because it had $'s inside the envelope.
