3D2, FIJI ISLANDS
Ron, ZL1AMO, is once again active from here as 3D2RW for about the next three weeks. He was spotted this past weekend on 40, 20 and 15 meters CW between 1000-1200z. QSL via ZL1AMO.

4D70/DZ70, PHILIPPINES (Special Prefixes)
Robin, DU9RG, informs OPDX that from now through December 31, 2002, DU stations are authorized to use the special prefixes 4D70 (for individual callsigns) and DZ70 (for club callsigns). These special prefixes have been authorized in connection with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Philippine Amatuer Radio Association (PARA).

5V, TOGO (Also TY possible)
Francois, VE2XO, informs OPDX that he will be active from Lome, Togo, as 5V7XO from August 25-31st. He will be mainly active on RTTY and also on SSB on 20/17/15/12/10 meters, operating split. Also, he may possibly be active on 6 meters. Francois also mentions that he may possibly be active from Benin (TY) (TBA later). He will be using a 1KW (TS-850SAT, IC-706 MKIIG and Acom 1000) into a Sigma-5 vertical, a Sigma-6M and a four-square Sigma-20 vertical array. Thanks to Acom, BUX ComCO, Comtek and Force 12. BQ9P, PRATAS ISLAND DXPEDITION UPDATE
Further information on the upcoming DXpedition to Pratas Island (BQ9P) scheduled from June 4th to June 12th is as follows: Rod/WC7N and Dick/N6FF have agreed to serve as pilot stations for this operation. They can be reached for purposes of providing information of value to the DXpedition at: bq9p-pilot@ku9c.com The team plans to operate the typical DXpedition frequencies. They will make efforts to operate in the general class portions of the 20 and 15 meter bands.

CS0, PORTUGAL
An operation labeled as "DXpedition SAGRES 2002" will take place July 5-7th using the CS0RCL. Activity will be on HF, 50 MHz, 144 MHz, 432 MHz and 1296 MHz. The following reference numbers were provided: Grid Square IM56MX, Fortresses F-054 and Lighthouse FAL-02. For possible skeds, contact via E-mail at: ct1eps@netc.pt QSL via the Bureau to CS0RCL or direct to QSL Manager CT1EPS.

FO, FRENCH POLYNESIA
PAOLO, IK2QPR, will be active as FO/IK2QPR from Bora Bora Island (OC-067) between August 10-14th. QSL via IK2QPR: Paolo Fava, via Bertani 8, 46100 Mantova, Italy.

HB, SWITZERLAND (Also S5)
Roy, W6UKX, will be active on most bands from Switzerland, June 12-22nd and from Slovenia from June 24th-July 3rd. His callsigns were not provided. QSL to his home callsign.

HK0, SAN ANDRES
Operators DH7WW, DK8YY, DL2AKT, DL2OAP, DL3ALI, DL4ALI, DL4JS, DL4YY, DL7ZZ, DL8AKI and HC2DX will be active from July 16-29th. They hope to get the callsign HK0ZZ. Activity will be on 160-6 meters and the satellites on all modes. They will also be active in the IOTA Contest. QSL via DH7WW. Pilot-station is: DL3JJ@t-online.de

HL70, SOUTH KOREA
Look for some Korean amateurs to be using special prefixes until June 30th to celebrate the 17th FIFA World Football (soccer) Cup. Operators will drop their number designator for the number 17 (For example HL3AMO will become HL17AMO). Also, club stations will replace the zero (0) in their prefixes with 17.

IOTA NEWS
AS-008. Look for 7N1JZT andJQ1SUO to be active as 7N1JZT/1 and JQ1SUO/1 from Niijima between June 8-9th. Activity will be on 40-10 meters CW/SSB. QSL via their home callsign.

AS-024. Look for JA0KNM/6, JA3MCA/6, JJ1EQW/6 and JE3NJZ/6 to be active from Iriomote Island, June 7-10th. Activity will be on 40-6 meters plus the WARC bands on SSB and CW. QSL to their home callsign or via the bureau.

EU-172. Jens, OZ5MJ, informs OPDX he just received the new IOTA DIRECTORY where he read that only about 22% have EU-172 confirmed. He lives on Fyn Island (which belongs to the Jylland East and Fyn Island Group) and is retired. He has lived on the island for 71 years and has been active since 1948. Jens states that he is almost active 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year on SSB, CW and RTTY on 80-10 meters. Send him an E-mail at: moreau@post1.tele.dk to request/suggest a frequency and time, and Jens will be there. He does send QSLs 100% via bureau every 2 month to his QSL bureau. So within a year you should have his QSL. Do you want QSL direct? K1B QSO TOTALS
It has been reported that Hrane, YT1AD, states that the K1B Baker Island DXpedition made 95,127 QSOs. This total includes 89,898 on CW/SSB, 4,708 on RTTY, 446 on PSK and 75 on SSTV.

KH9, WAKE ISLAND
You may only have a few days left to work Terry, K7ASU/KH9. He is scheduled to leave this week (actual date not sure). His activity will be PSK31 ONLY between 0730-0930z. Bands will depend on propagation. QSL via his home callsign.

OJ, MARKET REEF
Look for OJ0VR (CW/50MHz) and OJ0U (SSB) to be active from Market Reef (IOTA EU-053) between June 6-10th. Activity will be on 80-6 meters, CW/SSB. On Friday there will be a short 2 hours break for genarator repairs after 3 hours operation. Operators are Lasse/OH0RJ, Seppo/OH1VR, Kauko/OH3KQ, Topi/OH3LO, Reino/OH3LG, Markus/OH3RM and Mika/OH4YR. P5, NORTH KOREA
Ed, P5/4L4FN, is expected to be more active this summer. He made his first 6 meter contact this past week on May 26th with JJ2GAZ. Over the past week, Ed has made some 100 QSOs on 6 meters (according to the KK5DO Web site). He continues to be active on 15 meters SSB on 21225 kHz usually after 2130z.

QSL INFO AND NEWS
3W6LC and 3W2LC (Special Attention). Mal, VK6LC, reports that some- how in the system people are sending his 3W QSLs via the bureau to K6LC. Larry Clark, K6LC, is getting upset because of all the QSL cards being received continuously via the ARRL bureau. The correct QSL Manager is VK6LC and direct with return postage. Please request the bureaus to send them back to the originator not to "K6LC".

Jean Michel, F6AJA, reports that he has received the DU1/G0SHN (OC-244 March, OC-090 April) cards from the printer. The direct requests will be in the mail as soon as possible.

Steve, N3SL, reports that printed QSLs for HH2PK were received May 28th, and over 300 cards went out May 29th. He mentions that they only confirmed the single band/mode QSO, if there were multiple. Many people sent requests for QSOs that were not in the log, so if a QSO was not confirmed, it is for that reason. If there is any doubt, the recipient should check the online log at:

HH4/K4QD SUMMARY. Jan, K4QD, reports that his trip to the Northwest Haiti Christian Mission was very successful. Their mission team of 21 people accomplished many things. Jan was able to operate ham radio when not involved with other mission team projects. He made 3486 Phone and RTTY contacts (322 on RTTY). The QSL cards have been printed, and Jan has started to respond to requests (4 feet of mail) in the order received. Andreas, LA8AJA, reports that the JW4X/JW5QFA/JW8AJA QSL cards have been printed. All the JW4X direct QSLs have been answered by LA6EIA. The JW5QFA cards are also being answered. Andreas will start to answer his own (JW8AJA) cards in a few days. Cards can be seen on the following Web site at:

Effective immediately, Ralph, K2PF, will be handling QSLs for Mike, KH6ND.

Last week OPDX put a request out to help readers find out the QSL status on the NH4/NH6YK Midway DXpedition of August, 2001. Well, we received a mixed bag of messages on this. Some received their cards and others did not. Someone also mentioned that he heard from NH6YK, and he was going to deal with the delinquent QSL cards over the next few months. He also stated that he had not sent the cards out sooner because he had recently moved.

PW0T QSL CARDS. QSL Manager Steve, KU9C, reports that he should have them out the last week of June. He will start pushing them out as soon as they arrive from the printer. If you are a U.S. station, and sent a 34 cent SASE, please do not resend, Steve states he will cover the 3 cent postage increase as needed (He is thankful the post office is coming out with self-stick 3 centers!). He 'guesstimates' that he will have them all out by end of July, but it depends on some other things. He will post another announcement after a few weeks to update how it's going. Steve states, "Thanks for all the donations. I'm preparing to wire the team the money I've received so far, which has really helped close the gap on the expenses the team has incurred. I appreciate it, as does the team!"

RUMORS!!! Alan, VK4AAR, states, "There has been an UNFOUNDED rumor going around that I am not continuing as a QSL Manager! THIS IS TOTALLY UNTRUE. In fact, I am looking for MORE work as I am getting lazy. So if you need a manager with experience I AM AVAILABLE. TI9M QSL CARDS. Bill, AK0A, requests to 'PLEASE' do not sent duplicate requests. They have been told that the cards will be shipped next week so they should be able to get them out before the postage increase. Do not send 3 cent stamps if you haven't already. They have had some nice benefactors who have shipped them extra stamps to cover the postage increase. If you have not mailed your cards yet, he suggest you do so soon with sufficient postage to cover return.

SPECIAL EVENT REMINDER
Look for U.K. operators to use the prefixes 2Q, GQ and MQ in celebration of Her Majesty the Queen's Golden Jubilee. This The special prefixes may be used from 0000z, June 1st until 2400z on June 30th. This may cause some confusion because the country locator is dropped. For example, G, GD, GI, GJ, GM, GU and GW all become GQ, as well as M, MD, MI, MJ, MM, MU and MW all become MQ. Listen carefully to the operators.

Also, Don, G3XTT, would like to remind everyone that the GB50 special event station to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II will be active daily between 0700-2200z now through June 9th. Activity will be on CW, SSB, PSK31 and RTTY. Suggested operating frequencies are:
CW - 3529, 7029, 10109, 14029, 18079, 21029, 24909, 28029
SSB - 3769, 3789, 7089, 14189, 14219, 18139, 21289, 24939, 28489 kHz

Look for special event station TM6JUN to be on the air from Utah Beach from now until June 8th. The activity will be on CW and SSB on HF bands.

TN3B AND TN3W QRT
Josep/EA3BT and Nuria/EA3WL left the Congo on May 27th. They are very tired but very happy with their DXpedition with almost 27,000 QSOs in his log in only 8 days.

VK9L, LORD HOWE ISLAND
Remember to look for Bert, PA3GIO, as VK9LO. His activity will last until June 7th. Activity will be on 80-10 meters. QSL to his home callsign.

YA, AFGHANISTAN
Robert, S53R/YA5T, is expected to be back in YA-land as of this past Sunday. He is bringing with him a new IC-746PRO, IC-PW1 and some extra aluminium. Also, he is carrying a 4 element 6m yagi. He hopes to put YA on the 6m map! To make sure he works as many as possible in the U.S. this time, Robert also has a 3 element 10/12/15 meters yagi (his design, single band but only takes a few minutes to retune any 3 bands) in his luggage and will put it up soon. He states propagation to U.S. is perfect during the summer from about 0130 to 0330z and agian in the evening hours in YA-land. He also plans to do much more SSB this time. They have some 22,000 QSOs on CW and only about 4,500 on SSB. Meanwhile, Chris, YA/G0TQJ, is active from Kabul until the end of July. QSL via his home callsign either via the Bureau or direct to: C.M. Vernon, 66 Kesteven Road, Stamford, Lincs PE9 1SU, England.

YV, VENEZUELA
Steve, W4DTA, will be going to YV-land for a quick holiday (June 19-23rd). He will be active as YV5DTA while down there and will be on the air during his spare time. Steve should be active from 40-6 meters (SSB/CW). QSL via W4DTA.

ZONE 2
Nenad, VE3EXY, reports that he just received confirmation that he can operate from CQ ZONE 2. He will be active for 4 days (and 5 nights) from Friday evening, June 7th, to Tuesday morning, June 11th around the ANARTS/Jubilee RTTY/CW weekend. He expects to be active on the following modes: CW, RTTY, and Phone, but mostly RTTY/CW during the contest. He will use the callsign VE3EXY/2 (Counts as Zone 2 and VE2). Suggested frequencies are:
CW - 3510, 7010, 10107, 14025, 18077, 21025, 24897 and 28025
RTTY - 14090, 21090 and 28090 kHz.
Sorry no 6 meters. Outside the contest he will always work split (2 kHz CW and 5 kHz RTTY). Outside the contest look for him on the WARC bands, RTTY and the Lower Frequencies. During ANARTS Contest, watch for him on 20/15/10 meters. During Jubilee Contest, watch for him on 80/40/20/ 15/10 meters. Around his Greyline times, Nenad will be either on 80 or 40 meters. QSL via VE3EXY. Nenad's QSL Policy: "For all my DXpedition I do not do blanket cover of all QSOs in my log. Instead I answer QSLs when I receive them. You can send them direct with SASE (SAE +postage), via the bureau, or direct without postage. QSLs with sufficient return postage will be answered same day (if in the log), or via the bureau otherwise. QSL cards are already printed, and there is no reason to wait. No special cards are waiting for sponsors' approval or funding. E-mail requests are not accepted. However, e-QSL requests will be confirmed electronically, subject to receiving notification and electronic QSL server address."
