3XY, GUINEA (possibly 6W also)
Francois, VE2XO, informs OPDX that he
will be again active from Conakry as 3XY6A from September 22-25th. It is

5Z, KENYA
Alex, 5Z4DZ, has fixed the problem with his yagi and has now
added 40 meters to his activity. Apparently, no more tower work is needed
and the 80m Inverted L will go up shortly. He can now be active on all
the bands he is permitted to work. He was spotted this past weekend on
24940, 14024 and 21024 kHz. QSL Manager Alex, PA1AW, has received the

anniversary will begin this week, starting September 15th (for about
6 months). Callsign will be 8N1OGA and activity will be on all

9 BAND ACHIEVEMENT
David, VK3EW, informs OPDX that he has been chasing
Ake, 5R8FU, from Madagascar for some time now and has recently worked
him on the 160 meter band, thus completing all 9 bands. Ake told David
that he was the first station ever to achieve this with his station. Ake's
QSL Manager, John, SM5DJZ, sent an E-mail to David telling him he has
prepared some sort of award to be sent to him for this achievement.
Congratulations to David, and what a nice jester by the QSL Manager.
9U, BURUNDI
Baldur, DJ6SI, is currently active as 9U0X until September
20th or 21st. His activity is mainly CW and was spotted on 7005, 10120,
14022, 18085, 21025 and 28025 kHz over the past weekend. Watch 10 meters
between 1030-1400z and the other bands between 2030-0100z. QSL via his
home callsign.
C21, NAURU
Rex, VK8RH, will be active as C2RH until September 27th. His
activty will be mainly on 6 meters, but he will also be on the HF bands.
He will use a beam antenna on 6 meters and verticals on HF. His primary
HF frequency will be 14260 kHz (SSB), and he will also monitor 50.110 MHz.
Also, watch 18125 and 28885 kHz (+/- QRM). Rex has set up a 6m beacon
(C21SIX, 25w to a dipole) on 50.038 MHz at his hotel, and this will stay
in place when he leaves. Eventually the 6m antenna will be raised atop
a decent sized tower. When he is operating on 6m he will switch off the
beacon as it will interfere. If the beacon is not heard on 50.038 MHz,
then try 50.110 MHz to see if Rex is there. If you miss him on this
trip, he will return and be active again November 4-22nd. QSL via VK4AAR:
Alan Roocroft, P.O. Box 421, Gatton 4343, Australia. Online logs and
