3B9, RODRIGUES ISLAND
Mart, DL6UAA, who was active earlier in the week from Mauritius as 3B8MM, is now active as 3B9MM. The length of his stay is not known, but he seems to be very active on CW on the WARC bands. QSL via DL6UAA.

4W, TIMOR LESTE
Operator 4W4JEG was active this past weekend on 21245 kHz after 0215z. QSL via JR6ETW.

5H, TANZANIA (Also IOTA Op)
Eric, SM1TDE, will be active as 5H3/SM1TDE from Dar Es Salaam between April 4-18th. His activity will mainly be on CW but with some RTTY and SSB as well. His frequencies for CW are usually 2 kHz up from the band edges. He will only use 100w and simple antennas. Eric may also be active for a few days from Zanzibar Island (AF-032) during the second week. QSL via SM1TDE, by the bureau or CBA.

5K, COLOMBIA
Pedro, HK1HHK, announced that he will be using the callsign 5K1X during the CQ WPX SSB Contest (March 27-28th). Operating class is not sure. QSL via HK1HHX.

5V7C QRT
The 5V7C team is now back home. They went QRT this past Saturday around 1330z. The team is very tired but are pleased that they made some 17500 QSOs. 6 METERS MARATHON
Attention 6 meter Ops! The Rientolan Amateur Radio Club, OH3AG, invites you to participate in the first Global Six Meters Marathon. The objective of the Marathon is to work as many DXCC countries as possible between May 8th, 2004, at 0000z and August 8th, 2004, at 2400z on the six meters band. The results of this contest will be published during the Tampere Six Meters Forum on August 14th when the Magic Band enthusiasts abroad will meet. 9A80, CROATIA (Special Event/Attention Prefix Hunters!)
Emir, 9A6AA, informs OPDX that radio club "Zagreb", one of the oldest radio amateur radio clubs in Europe, is celebrating its 80th anniversary. The club was founded on March 29, 1924. There will be three special event stations active daily using the prefix 9A80 (9 Alpha Eight Zero) until December 31st, 2004. Look for the following: 9A80Z, 9A80ABD and 9A80ADE. 9M6, EAST MALAYSIA
As this was being written Don, K6IPV, was preparing to leave Sunday night for a visit to his old friend, VK6XA, in Perth. He will not be on the air there since Bill has sold his gear. However, from there he will head to Hillview Gardens, in Borneo, where Don will operate as 9M6AAC before the contest and 9M6A during the contest. QSL is via N2OO. His arrival at HGARC is on March 224th, and his last day on the air will be the 30th.

BW3, TAIWAN
Tatsuhiko, JD1BKQ, will be active as BW3/JD1BKQ in the CQ WPX SSB Contest (March 27-28th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (20m)/Low-Power entry. QSL via JR3PZW.

EI25, IRELAND (Special Event)
To celebrate the enlargement of the European Union to 25 members on May 1st, the Irish Radio Transmitters Society (IRTS) is issuing a European Union Enlargement Award for amateurs who contact special event stations with the prefix "EI25" during the weekend of May 1-2nd. The special event stations will be located in ten Irish cities/towns which will represent or have been twinned with a new member state as listed below:

In addition, an IRTS HQ station with the callsign EI25EU will be operational from Dublin. AWARD REQUIREMENTS: To qualify for the award, stations should work the ten EI25 stations listed above but may use the HQ station EI25EU as a "joker" for one missing contact (Also see SUBSTITUTE STATIONS). SUBSTITUTE STATIONS: If a contact with one or more of the EI25 stations is not made it can be substituted by 2 contacts with stations located in the relevant new member country (e.g. If EI25HA is not worked, it may be replaced by QSOs with 2 HA stations. However, a total of 3 EI25 stations must be included in the award submission). While EI25 stations will only be active on May 1-2nd, 2004, contacts with "Substitute Stations" may be made up to 5/31/2004. All applications for the award must be received by 12/31/2004. The award is available to SWLs on a 'heard' basis. QSL cards are not required, but applications should be submitted by way of log entries certified by two licenced amateurs. The Award will not be endorsed for band or mode. A fee of € 5.00 or 5 IRCs should accompany the application which should be addressed to: IRTS Awards Manager, P O Box 462, Dublin 9, Ireland.

HB75, SWITZERLAND (Special Event/Attention Prefix Hunters!)
During the year 2004, the Swiss Amateur Radio Club (USKA) headquarters will be using the special callsign HB75A in celebrating its 75th anniversary. For prefix hunters: There will be an entry in CQ WPX SSB Contest with the all time new prefix, HB75A. Operators for the contest have not yet been decided, but they will enter the contest as a Multi-Single. QSL via HB9A.

IOTA NEWS
AS-079. Yoshiro, JA1AMP (JL3SIK), will be active from Tarama Island (part of the Miyako Islands), April 9-11th. His callsign will be JA1APM/6. Look for activity on 40-6 meters CW/SSB (possibly RTTY, PSK31 and MFSK16). QSL via JL3SIK by the bureau or direct to: Yoshiro Nishimura, Takemidai 4-2-6, Suita City, Osaka 565-0863, JAPAN.

AS-117. A team of JA operators will be active as JO1ZZZ/3 from Awaji Island, March 20-21st. Activity will be on 160-6 meters CW, SSB, RTTY, PSK31 and MFSK16. QSL via JL3SIK (QRZ.com).

EU-075. Charles, KE2SP, will be active as SV8/KE2SP from Hydra Island until June 15th. He is running QRP (5 watts into a dipole). He was heard this past week on 21277 kHz at 1248z and 18162 kHz at 1453. QSL via his home callsign.

EU-128 Andy, DL4OK, will be active as DL4OK/p from the Staberhuk Lighthouse (ARLHS reference FED-226) located on Fehmarn Island (GIA O-01 for the German Islands Award), March 18-25th. His activity will be on 80-10 meter CW/SSB. QSL via the DARC Bureau to DL4OK.

NA-184 Operators Ed/K0NW and Laurence/WA6LUT will be active from St. Georges Reef (NA-184) and the Lighthouse (ARLHS USA 793) from April 30th to May 2nd. The callsign will be WA6LUT. The operators will be primarily on SSB on the usual IOTA frequencies. QSL to WA6LUT.

OC-170. (Update to OPDX.651) Alek, VK6APK, has sent OPDX an update regarding the trip to Woody Island, by the VK6DX Chasers Club commencing March 20th. The callsign to be used will be VK6EWI. This is the same callsign that was used during the last activation of the island by the group. Also, a seventh member has joined the operating team. He is Richard, VK6TT. Look for them on or near the standard IOTA frequencies on 40-10 meters.

KH6, HAWAII
Yuzuru, JR1AGC, will be active KH6/JR1AGC from Kona, March 28th through April 1st. Activity will be on 75-6 meters, but he mostly prefers 15 meters SSB (21202/21242 kHz). Antennas mentioned are a 75-30m Long-Wire, 20-10m SIGMA-5 and 6m HB9CV.

KP2, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS
Harry, W6DXO, will be active as KP2/W6DXO from the Island of St. John (NA-106) between now and March 19th. Activity will be mainly on 17/12/10 meters SSB and with PSK activity planned. QSL via his home callsign, direct or by the bureau.

LIGHTHOUSE ACTIVITY
Look for Steve, G0SGB, to be active as ZB/G0SGB/p from the Europa Point Lighthouse (ARLHS GIB-001) from Gibraltar on March 20-21st. He also plans to activate four other lighthouses on Gibraltar during this stay there. There is also reports that Steve, G0SGB, will be active from various lighthouses in Spain as EA/G0SGB/p on March 22nd and 23rd. Activity will be mainly on 14264 kHz or possibly other bands as conditions permit. QSL via his home callsign (QRZ.com).

OH0, ALAND ISLAND
Operators OH2GEK, OH3BHL, OH8GCW and OH9MM will be active as OH0I in the Russian DX Contest (March 20-21st) as a Multi-Single entry. QSL via OH3BHL. ADDED NOTE: Also, look for activity in the BARTG RTTY Contest with a separate station on the air!

PJ4, NETHERLANDS ANTILLES
Helmut, DF7ZS, informs OPDX that he will be operating in the CQ WPX Contest as a Single-Op/All-Band entry (starting March 27th) on SSB from Bonaire as PJ4P. He will stay for one week after the contest operating as PJ4/DF7ZS for some casual operations. QSL is via his home callsign. Logs will be available after his return at:

QSL INFO AND NEWS
6D9X QSLS. Jim, N1NK, announced this past week that after a couple of setbacks in the printing process, he now has the 6D9X QSLs and the first batch of cards went out in the mail March 9th. All the direct requests that he has, should be processed in the next couple of weeks. He is sorry about the delay.

QSL the recent (Friday, March 12th) 4U1UN activity to QSL Manager HB9BOU, direct or via the USKA (HB9) QSL Bureau. Operators were Theo/PB7CW and Henry/KT1J/PA0AFN.

QSL XU7POS via ON4AJV. Activity was a one day operation from Kos Pos Island. Operators were Jack/ON4AJV and Wim/ON6TZ.

QSL YC3MM/M via IZ8CCW. Operator was Adhi, YC3MM, was a mobile station from Madura Island (OC-237) only on Sunday, March 14th, 2004.

RESULTS OF THE 2003 BEST DXPEDITION SURVEY
The 425 DX News announced their results of the "Best 2003 DXpedition Survey" this past week. The ST0RY DXpedition to Sudan (March-April 2003) was voted the 425 DX News "DXpedition of the Year" for 2003. Congratulations to the winner. SV/A, MOUNT ATHOS
Reports are coming out that at least half of the 800 year old Helandari Monastery complex was destroyed by a fire last week on Thursday. None of the 25 resident monks were hurt, and reports indicate that a collection of centuries old icons, heirlooms and religious relics were saved. This is not the same location where our friend Monk Apollo, SV2ASP/A, lives and transmits from. The fire was at the Chelandri Monastery. Monk Apollo lives at the Docheiariou Monastery. SV9, CRETE (Early Contest Announcement)
Look for operators Roberto/I2WIJ, Salvatore/IK8UND, Luigi/IK8HCG and possibly others to be active as J49Z during the CQ WW DX SSB Contest (October 30-31st) as a Multi-Single entry. QSL via IK8UND, direct only.

T33, BANABA (DXpedition Update)
Alan Eshleman, K6SRZ, sent out the following press release last week: "During the next two weeks, members of the T33C team will be heading for rendezvous on Tarawa (T30), and from there on to Banaba (T33). T33C should be on-the-air by April 4 or 5. All of the equipment that was shipped from Europe has now cleared Kiribati customs and is ready for transfer to Te Taobe, the boat that will take the team from Tarawa to Banaba. T33C's likely operating frequencies are now posted on the expedition Web site:

The T33C operators understand that there will be other DXpeditions on the air at the same time. For that reason, our frequencies may change from time to time. To prevent overlap and confusion with other operations, we will try to maintain splits and spreads that do not conflict. We encourage all hams to be sure that any packet spots of T33C are, in fact, our station. It would be a shame to work another station thinking you were working T33C and not be in our log. This has happened before on other expeditions. If there is any doubt whether or not you are our log, please work us again. VP9, BERMUDA (A Real Early Annoucement!)
Jon, N0JK, informs OPDX that he will be active in the CQ 160 CW Contest in January 2005. He mentions that he will have a decent transmit antenna and use a receive antenna.

WARD 2004
Sylwester, SP2FAP, MK QTC Editor, informs OPDX that the WARD 2004 Award (World Amateur Radio Day 2004 Award) is designed to commemorate the "World Amateur Radio Day" celebrated by the IARU on April 18th each year. The Award is issued by the MK QTC (Polish Amateur Radio Journal) with support of the PZK (The Polish Amateur Radio Union). WARD 2004 will be granted/issued for at least the following numbers of contacts (any stations in the world): either 10 QSOs on HF bands, or 5 QSOs on VHF+ bands. All contacts must be made between 0000-2400z on April 18th. Send a standard application form (log extract), including the list of QSOs, to: Redakcja MK QTC, ul.
