3B8, MAURITIUS
Mart, DL6UAA, expects to arrive here October 20th and will be active as 3B8MM. He plans to stay until November 16th (the day before his birtday - November 17th). However, he states that the day of his return back to DL-land is not confirmed right now (possibly 1 week later). Mart also states it seems that a 160m operation will not be possible because there is not enough space at the main-QTH and "/p" activities are not allowed (at the moment).

5Z4, KENYA (IOTA Op)
Miki, YT1CS, currently active as 5Z4YT1CS from Nairobi, has arranged a side trip to Lamu Island AF-040 (Coast Province North Group) from November 4-11th. He will be active on 80-10 meters SSB only, using 100W into an inverted "V" for 40/80 meters and verticals for the higher bands. The callsign to be used in this operation will be 5Z4YT1CS/M. Look for him on the usual IOTA frequencies. He will stay in Kenya until November 18th. QSL via YT1CS, by the bureau or direct.

7Q, MALAWI
Rumor has it that Les, 7Q7LA, will be back in Malawi, before the end of this month. More details are forthcoming.

FR/G, GLORIOSO ISLAND
Another rare French DXpedition has been announced over the past week in the "La Gazette du DX" bulletin. The 2003 CDXC Europa DX team are planning a 15 day operation to Glorioso Island in May 2005. As with the Europa operation, the operators will be taken to the island by military personnel. The operators mentioned are: Didier/F5OGL, Dany/F5CW, Freddy/F5IRO, Pascal/F5PTM and possibly others. The team also plans to be an entry in the CQ WPX Contest while there. Now for the bad news. Due to international situations, this operation could be cancelled at any time. QSL via F5CQ.

GD4, ISLE OF MAN
Once again, the MD4K team plans another operation this year in the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 30-31st). This year's operators include G1GEY, G3NKC, G0HSS, G4MJS, G4XUM, M0BEW, M0RHI and M5RIC. Their entry is still undecided; they may yet switch from Multi-2 to Multi-Multi this time. They welcome invites for QSYs in the contest. QSL via G3NKC, or requests through their Web page at:

http://www.md4k.com

HK, COLOMBIA (Another Op Needed!)
Tony, W4OI (ex-N7BG), reports that he has plans to do a Multi/2 operation this November from HK3CQ's Idyllic QTH in the mountains of Colombia, about an hour from Bogota. He is looking for another operator. They plan to only have 3 operators, Juan/HK3CQ, Tony/W4OI and one other which will allow for plenty of operating time. Anyone who is interested must be willing to bring a transceiver and/or amplifier and be willing to assist in putting up some wire antennas for 80/160m during the week before the contest. Tony states that they will commute to the station and stay in his apartment in Bogota, so living costs will be minimal. If interested, contact Tony via E-mail at: trogo@cfl.rr.com

VK2, AUSTRALIA
Travis, W5GED, will head here on December 1st and expects to be active as VK2GED for 3 weeks and will operate from VK2UW's QTH. Look for him to show up on a Pacific Island net on 14315 kHz at 0900z.

VK9L, LORD HOWE ISLAND
The following was received from Bren, G4DYO, who was asked to forward the below message from Laurie Margolis, G3UML/VK9LA, to all bulletins, on Lord Howe Island: "We have noticed adverse comments on the cluster about some of our lowband operations, especially in the evenings EU time. We have sometimes joined nets like the I2ZGC or UR4DX operations around 7O45. The simple reason is that we are having huge problems being heard in the EU evening, and I would prefer to work 60 or 70 people on a net rather than shouting at the QRM for two hours each morning to no purpose. Sorry, but that's the way it is. We are hammering all the greyline times. 40 CW has been quite good. SSB much more difficult. Offensive Cluster comments are pointless. We have spent huge time, money and effort getting out here, and want to maximise the QSO rate. I will try to spend more time working 80 metre EU long path in the EU morning, but the contact rate is very slow, and other bands are busy then. I can hear many G's perfectly around 3799 at 0700 GMT, but they can't hear me despite power and good long path antenna. Unfortunately high band condx -- 17-12-15-1O -- are truly dreadful, at the half way point of our operation. Still trying!" 73 LAURIE, G3UML

REMEMBER the VK9LA activity will end on October 23rd. QSL via Oceania Amateur Radio DX Group, Inc., P.O. Box 513, Nambour 4560, Australia.

VO2, CANADA (ZONE 2)
Operators Stanely/AC8W/VA3ACW, Hank/K8DD/VE3RDD and Ian/K8MM will be active as VO2AAA from Labrador City, Labrador, during the CQ WW DX CW Contest (November 27-28th) as a Multi-Single, possibly a Multi-2 if they get another operator or two. QSLs for the contest callsign go to K8DD/VE3RDD.

VU4, ANDAMAN ISLANDS (Follow-Up/Update)
Over the past week, it was learned that the two operators who requested everyone to write to the Indian Telecommunication Ministry to authorize an operation to Andaman Islands, are two separate efforts and that there is no competition between the two. However, there has been some letters written to Miku, VU2WAP, supporting Mrs. Bharathi, VU2RBI. These letters should be kept separate so as not to confuse the application with the minister of communications. Both are receiving plenty of support. For more details, please refer to last week's OPDX.680.
