3B8, MAURITIUS (Also PT7)
Tibi, HA7TM, will be active as 3B8/HA7TM from January 25th to February 3rd. Activity will be on 40-10 meters including the WARC bands using a radio with 100 watts into a four band GP antenna by DunaX. After his operation here, he will go to Brazil between February 21st and March 2nd, and be active as HA7TM/PT7. His QTH will be Fortalese. QSL cards are "OK" via the HA bureau or direct using the (QRZ.com) address.

3C, EQUATORIAL GUINEA (Update)
Last week we mentioned that a station was signing 3CAK, and the operator was stating his name was Vladimir in Malabo on Bioco Island (AF-010). OPDX has been informed by Victor, UA2FM, that the operator is Vladimir Arseniev, and his QSL address is correct as announced last week. However, the 3CAK is the callsign of the ferry boat "DJIBLOHO" that Vladimir is on. He is an employee onboard the ferry, and operates the ship's HF terminal and actually should be signing /mm.

We were also informed that Vladimir has never had a personal callsign before but was a club station operator (UK2FAH in UA2-land) over 20 years ago. Victor states that Vladimir is a professional RO and excellent CW operator but has not been in contact with any UA2 hams for many years. Victor does know him on a professional basis, being that he is a maritime operator and captain's mate himself. Members of the UA2 Contest Club (RK2FWA) have contacted him and explained that his operation is illegal. They advised him to apply for a 3C licence and to look for any house close to the port area, or at least use a ham callsign with /mm id. Individuals are trying to help and provide/get Vladimir more information on the 3C licencing procedures. This information has been obtained and has been sent through a local coastal HF station where he is registered for communication service. The UA2 group has also recommended that Vladimir refrain from using the commercial call on ham bands. They hope he will get a UA2 licence when on holidays in April. After then, he may use /mm id. Stay tuned!

3Y0X PETER I ISLAND DXPEDITION UPDATE (Op Delayed!)
On January 13th, the following was a press release sent out by Team Co-leaders Ralph Fedor, K0IR and Bob Allphin, K4UEE: DXpedition Delayed

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: "There will be at least a two and one-half to three-week delay in the planned 3Y0X DXpedition. Problems have arisen with completing the renovation and re-registration of the ship on schedule.

We currently have one team member in Chile gathering information. On Jan. 17 a second team member will arrive. The two of them will travel to the shipyard and personally inspect the vessel. We will know more after this meeting and will update you at that time.

Our entire team remains intact. We are all eager to be underway.

This is a huge undertaking and very, very expensive. The team members are funding 74% of the total cost and need your help with the remaining expenses. Your contribution will be very much appreciated. Send contributions to either: K4UEE, F2JD, JA1ELY or ZL2AL (check the website for an easy-to-use donation form)."
