3D2, FIJI
Look for Nao, JK1FNL, to be active as 3D2NA from Mana Island
(OC-121), April 24-28th. Activity will be on 40-6 meters CW/SSB/RTTY.

6W, SENEGAL
Al, 6W1RY (NH7A when stateside), reports that he will be
active in the CQ WW SSB Contest (October 29-30th) as a Single-Op/All-Band/

A5, BHUTAN
A report from Sebastien, F8DQZ, indicates that there are
two new club stations in Bhutan as per Wangpo Dorji, A51WD. No QSNs have
been reported yet, but the callsigns and QTHs were provided as:

ANTARCTIC NEWS
During the Mediterraneo DX Club Convention, Antarctic veteran and MDXC
member Filippo Corbelli, IK0AIH, reported that while waiting for a
special prefix to be issued to the Italian bases in Antarctica,
the IR0ANT callsign will be used from the Mario Zucchelli Station
(I-01 for the Antarctica Award) during the start of the 21st expedition.
The Mediterraneo DX Club will handle the QSL cards for IR0ANT.
ADDED NOTES: If you have not received your card for KC4/IK0AIH's
activity from Concordia Station (MN-06 for the Antarctica Award),

Filippo also reported that the only legitimate amateur radio activities
during the latest Italian 20th expedition to Antarctica were those
conducted personally by amateur radio operator Mario Pillon (I0QHM)
as KC4/I0QHM.

BX3, TAIWAN
Juergen, DJ3KR, is now active as BX3/DJ3KR until June 5th.
He was spotted this past week on 30/17 meters CW. Watch these bands
between 1100-1700z. QSL via DJ3KR.
DX0, SPRATLY ISLANDS (QRT)
Eddie, DU1EV, informs OPDX that Gil, 4F2KWT,
took down the antennas at DX0K on Tuesday, April 12th. Eddie states,
"It is nice to know that six meters finally opened up last week and Gil was able to work HL and JA stations on the magic band. So now, officially, it is a 160 to 6 meter DXpedition. We did not have any luck with the 6 meter EME attempt."He also states, "What better way to end a DXpedition than by attending the town fiesta. The Municipality of Kalayaan at Pag-Asa Island celebrates its fiesta this week. Gil is a guest of honor at the town fiesta. He shall be taking the ship from Pag-Asa (Thitu) Island to Puerto Princessa, Palawan. Hopefully, he will be back in the mainland by Tuesday or Wednesday next week."
EX, KYRGYZSTAN
Look for Jaak, ES1FB, to be active as EX/ES1FB from
April 19-29th. Also, look for Oleg, ES1RA, to be active as EX/ES1RA
from April 19th to May 17th. Activity from both operators will be a

FT5XO UPDATE
The Microlite Penguins DXpedition Team arrived in Australia
at 0000z, Monday April 11th. Robert, SP5XVY, sent Tom, SP5UAF, some pictures

HB0, LIECHTENSTEIN
Remember to look for Gherardo/IZ1DSH, Giovanni/IK1WEG
and Riccardo/IZ1GDB to be active as HB0/homecall, April 22-26th. Activity
will be on 80/40/30/20 meters CW/SSB. QSL via their home callsigns, direct

HC1, ECUADOR
Dr. Rick, NE8Z, will be active as HC1MD from Tumbaco,
April 25th to May 11th. He mentions that Tumbaco is located "just over
the hill" from HCJB's massive antenna complex in Pifo, Ecuador. Rick
will be using a Kenwood TS-850s/SB200 + Carolina Windom antenna on 80-10
meters CW/SSB. He will be paying special attention to the WARC bands on
this trip. Also, look for Rick to be active on 6 meters CW/SSB with a

HQ2, HONDURAS
Dan, HQ2DMR, announced this past weekend that anyone
needing a QSO and a QSL card from Honduras on 40 meters to look for
him during the weekends in April. Watch for him between 2300-0200z,
transmitting on 7095 or 7098 kHz and listening on 7225 or 7235 kHz.
HS0, THAILAND
Charly, K4VUD, informs OPDX that he will be active from
here as HS0ZCW from April 28th to May 14th. This is a family visit, so
his operations will be casual. ADDED NOTE FROM CHARLY: Also note that
Charly's Thai wife, Somjit, loves answering QSL cards and has done over
2,000 backlogged bureau cards for K4VUD, HS0ZCW, 9N7UD, A52UD, XW1UD,
and KG4FPK. He states, "Gotta love her! She has promised to do the
remainder this summer and get all caught up!"
HZ, SAUDI ARABIA
Thomas, HZ1EX, has been very active on 40/17 meters
CW. Watch 40 meters (around 7002 kHz) between 2130-0200z and 17 meters
(around 18075-18085 kHz) between 1330-1730z. He will be here until June.

INTERNATIONAL MARCONI DAY
The International Marconi Day (IMD) is a 24
hour amateur radio event held annually to celebrate the birth of Guglielmo
Marconi on April 25, 1874. The IMD event is not a contest. It is an
opportunity for amateurs around the world to make point-to-point contact
with historic Marconi sites using HF communications techniques similar to
those used by Marconi and to gain an attractive Award for achieving the
requisite number of Marconi stations worked (5 awards for transmitters,
2 for SWL). The International Marconi Day is usually held on the Saturday
closest to Marconi's birthday, when amateur radio stations are established
and operated from or near original historic sites. This year, the event
will take place on April 23rd. These stations are known as the "Award
Stations" and are listed on the IMD Web site at:
INTERNATIONAL MARCONI DAY (Station in VK2)
From New South Wales, Australia,
the Hornsby & Districts Amateur Radio Club and the Wahroonga Amateur
Historical Radio Association will be operating a special event station
for this day since Wahroonga was the location of the first contact between
Britain and Australia - between Marconi in Conarvan, Wales, and Ernest
Fisk at Wahroonga, New South Wales. Listen and work VK2IMD the full 24
hours (GMT) on April 23rd, on all bands from 80 to 10 meters as propagation
permits.
INTERNATIONAL MUSEUMS WEEKEND 2005
The fifth "International Museums
Weekend" (IMW) special event will be taking place this year on the weekend
of June 18-19th. Everyone is welcome to join in from their local museum
for this very enjoyable and friendly event. The organizer, Harry, M1BYT,
asks that all those intending to join in should register their museum.

IOTA NEWS
EU-029. Stefan, DB3LSP, will be active as OZ/DB3LSP from Sjaelland
Island (DIA SJ-001 for the Danish Islands Award), May 1-14th.
Activity will be mainly on CW, but with some SSB and PSK-31.

EU-032. (Special Event) To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Liberation of the Oleron Island, Jean-Paul, F5BZK (ex-XE1BZK), will be active as TM6IO from April 25th to May 8th. QSL via his home callsign.
EU-067. Before Tomas, LY1DF, makes his trip to the Dodecanese Islands (EU-001 - see SV5 below), he will activate the Cyclades Islands for one day, April 27th, as SV8/LY1DF. Activity will be 30 meters and up. QSL via LY1DF, by the bureau or direct.
EU-129. Operators DK8MIL, DK7JAN, DO9BS, DG9BTX and DJ9MD will be active April 22-26th as DF0TM from Usedom Island (GIA O-13). Activity will be on 14260 kHz and other HF bands. They will also be on local repeaters and try to operate on 2m SSB. QSL via DF0TM (QRZ.com).
EU-137. Look for Jan/SM7NGH and Fred/SM7DAY to be active as homecall/P from Ven Island (Lighthouse WLH 0780), April 18-20th. QSL via the bureau or their CBA.
J2, DJIBOUTI
Yves, F5PRU/J20FH, is now QRT from Djibouti and is heading
to Metropolitan France. All his antennas were dismantled last week. He
would to thank all of the hams who made a QSO with J20FH, sometimes in
very bad conditions. QSL via his French callsign F5PRU, either by the
bureau or direct. He hopes to make another trip to J2 in the near future.
J3, GRENADA
Dick, K5AND, will be active as J3/K5AND during the end of
June. Activity will be on 6 meters with a single long yagi and kw and
2 meters with a single 5 element yagi or a group of 4 yagis combined
with a kw amp on CW/SSB and 500w on the digital modes. There will be a
2m EME operation. No skeds will be taken. The location is on the far
north point of the island giving an excellent take off to Europe and
the USA on 6 meters. Several other operators will join, including one
YL. More details are to be forthcoming.
JT1, MONGOLIA
Nicola, I0SNY, is expected to be active again as JT1Y
between April 21st and May 10th. He also expects to operate as JT1Y/4
from the Gobi Desert. His bands/modes of activity were not provided. QSL

LX, LUXEMBOURG
Remember to look for Guido/ON4BAG, Frans/ON4LO, Rob/ON6QX
and Ivo/ON6UM to be active as LX/homecall, April 22-25th. Activity will be

NEW ISLAND AWARD
Corrado, IT9DAA, MIA Awards Manager, has announced a
new Mediterraneo DX Club project called the "Mediterranean Islands Trophy".
The "Mediterranean Islands Trophy" can be earned by contacting stations
operating from islands located in the Mediterranean Sea between the period

S0, WESTERN SAHARA
Luis, EA5KY, Chief Editor of "El mundo del DX",
informs OPDX that activity by S09A last month was legitimate and was
NOT A PIRATE as some individuals have suggested. QSL via EA1BT (by the
bureau or direct).
S7, SEYCHELLES (IOTA Activity)
Frederic, HB9CQK, will be active as
S79QK from April 27th to May 8th. His activity will include the activation
of Denis Island (AF-024) and Alphonse Island (AF-033). Operations will
be on the 20/17/15/12/10 meters SSB on the IOTA frequencies. He will use
an IC-706MKIIG with 100 watts, and a 40 meter delta loop antenna. The
log will be uploaded to LoTW. If you want a QSL card, you can QSL via
HB9CQK, direct or by the bureau.
SPECIAL EVENT (Interesting Callsign Of The Week)
To celebrate the first
flight of the A380 Airbus a special callsign will be activated. Look for
TM380 (Tango Mike three eight zero - no suffix) to be active from the
following cities: Toulouse-Blagnac, Nantes and Saint-Nazaire et Meaulte.
These cities are the different places of production of this big plane
(south-west France). Activity will be on all modes and bands. Listen for
activity on April 18th, the date planned for this flight. QSL via the
bureau or direct to F5GNY: 1 rue des Mimosas, F- 31850, BEAUPUY, France.
SPECIAL EVENT
Members of the F6KIF ARC will activate TM8MAI from May
3-17th, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the treaty signed in Reims
on May 7th, 1944, (published on the 8th), ending WWII. Activity will be
on HF/VHF/UHF and on CW/SSB/FM. QSL via F4DRC.
SPECIAL EVENT (Update On Dates)
Bob Cooke, VE3BDB, reports to OPDX that
"operating dates for historic special event station CF3VEDAY have now been
confirmed. The station will operate from May 5-12th, inclusive to celebrate
the opening of the new Canadian War Museum in Canada on May 8th, a date
which coincidentally is the 60th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day
(VE-DAY). In addition, 2005 has been declared Year of the Veteran. All
Radio Amateurs are asked to observe these important events by working the
special event station and inviting Veterans into their radio shacks. This
is the first time that a 5-letter suffix has been issued for Amateur Radio

SV5, DODECANESE
Tomas, LY1DF, will be active as SV5/LY1DF from April
28th to May 4th. Activity will be on 80/30/20/17 meters. QSL via LY1DF,
by the bureau or direct.
SV9, CRETE
Rosel/DL3KWR and Hardy/DL3KWF will be active as SV9/DL3KWR
and SV9/DL3KWF, respectivelly, now through April 29th. Activity will be
mostly on the WARC bands, 80 meters and on CW during their evenings. QSL

T32, EAST KIRIBATI (New IOTA Op!)
During the 1st Mediterraneo DX Club
Convention held on April 9-10th, plans for a DXpedition to two unnumbered
IOTA groups in the Line Islands (East Kiribati) were announced by MDXC
members Nando Rubino/IT9YRE (T32Y), Claudio Scaglia/I1SNW (T32SNW) and
Alfio Bonanno/IT9EJW (T32EJW). They will operate SSB and CW first from
Flint Island (if unable to land there, they will move on to Vostok Island
in the same group); the second new one will be Caroline Island (aka
Millennium Island). The expedition is scheduled to take place between
September 28th and October 15th. QSL direct to their home callsigns
(separate envelopes for each operation, please). Donations to help offset
the high costs of the expedition will be gratefully accepted and can be
sent to IT9YRE: Nando Rubino, P.O. Box 30, 96012 Avola -SR. Italy.
TK, CORSICA (Possible IOTA Activity)
Laci/HA0HW and Tomi/HA4DX will be
active as TK/HA0HW and TK/HA4DX from Corsica (EU-014) on May 22-29th.
They plan to operate on all HF bands on CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK31 with two
radios, DunaX and home-made verticals, dipoles on 160/80m. If they find
time to go out to one of the small coastal islands (EU-100, EU-104 or
EU-164) to operate, they will do it. QSLs are "OK" via the HA QSL Bureau
or direct according to the details on (QRZ.com).
TM, FRANCE (Special Activities)
Operator Serge/F5FAB and members of the Millau ARC will activate the callsign TM7VM from the Viaduc of Millaum France, during the following dates: April 19th to May 1st, June 6-18th, July 10-24th, August 14-28th, October 16-30th, November 11th to December 6th and December 17-31st. Activity will be on all HF bands CW and SSB. QSL via F5UJZ.TT9, CHADDuring the "Printemps de Bourges", one of the biggest "Cultural Week" in France, members of the Bourges ARC will be activate TM5PDB, from April 18-24th. Activity will be on all bands HF and VHF, CW/SSB/Digital. QSL via F8KFJ.
VU, INDIA
Bob, W3YY, will be in Bangalore, India, from April 29th through
May 5th, and has received a kind invitation from Miku, VU2WAP, to operate
from his station. This is not a DXpedition, so Bob will have to depend on
the availability of Miku's station and his own business schedule. Bob
hopes to be able to have some significant operating time during the weekend
of April 29-31st, and perhaps some brief periods during the remainder of
his trip.
WARD 2005. AWARD (Just A Reminder!)
Monday, April 18th, is World Amateur
Radio Day. There is a World Amateur Radio Day 2005 Award (WARD) available
and designed to commemorate the World Amateur Radio Day celebrated by IARU
which is on April 18th each year. This year's award celebrates the 80th
anniversary of the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU). The AWARD 2005
is issued by the MK QTC, "The Polish Radio Amateurs'Journal", with support
of PZK, "The Polish Amateur Radio Union". The WARD 2005 will be issued for
the following numbers of contacts: either 10 QSOs on HF bands, or 5 QSOs
on VHF bands. All contacts must be made between 0000 and 2400z on April 18,
2005. Send a standard application form (log extract), including the list
of QSOs, to: MK QTC, The Radio Amateurs' Journal, Suchacz-Zamek,
Wielmozy 5b, 82-340 Tolkmicko, Poland (on or before June 31st, 2005). The
price of the WARD 2005 Award is 5 USD or 5 EURO. The full-color award's

WRTC 2006 (Update)
Oms, PY5EG, informs OPDX that the "REFEREES SELECTION
CRITERIA" for the next WRTC 2006 is now in place. Interested parties can

ZL7, CHATHAM ISLANDS
Rick, AI5P, is now active as ZL7/AI5P until April
26th. Activity will be mainly on CW on 40-10 meters. Activity over the
past week has been on 30 and 20 meters CW. There has been some 17 meters
CW and 20 meters SSB. QSL via AI5P.
ZW6, BRAZIL (Fort Activity)
Look for ZW6FSM to be active from Fort Sao
Marcos (DFB reference BA-05), April 20-21st. Activity will be SSB only,
