QSL INFO AND NEWS
ANOTHER REMINDER. Stateside Dxers should remember that U.S. postage
rates will increase on January 8, 2006.
ADDED NOTE: Joe, W4TV, also wants to remind OPDX readers that FOREIGN postage rates will also increase. New rates:
Postcards: 1 Oz. letter: Canada and Mexico - $0.55 Canada and Mexico - $0.63 Rest of the world - $0.75 Rest of the world - $0.84It won't effect those DX stations who send a USD or Euro, but it will be important to those who use U.S. postage. It will also cut into the "extra" that often pays for the cards, envelopes, labels, ink, etc. for the QSL manager.
3C2MV QSL INFO
Gerry, VE6LB/VA6XDX, informs OPDX that he has received
the late VE6JO's 3C2MV logs from his widow. These have been uploaded
to the LoTW on December 21s for those who need an immediate confirmation.
Vitality's, VE6JO logs, will be obtained in the New Year. Direct and
bureau cards for 3C2MV and VE6JO (and special PXs) will be processed
and sent out early in the New Year.
LAST MINUTE UPDATE: Gerry reports (Dec. 24th),
"All of the outstanding DIRECT 3C2MV QSLs have been sent as of today. If you haven't received your direct card in a few weeks, we didn't get yours or it has been lost in the return mail. You can either re-submit, use LoTW or send one via the Bureau. I have started working on the Bureau cards, and they will be sent out over the next few months."
Reports indicated that KH6ND/KH5 QSLs are being received.
VK9CG/VK9XG QSL UPDATE. Charlie, W0YG, informs OPDX that he has been receiving VK9XG QSLs in the mail, but doubts he will be able to send all requests out before he leaves on a trip on January 3rd and will not return until the end of January. With the postage to increase on January 8th, Charlie states,
"This means many envelopes will not have the proper postage. I don't mind subsidizing my trips, but I do mind subsidizing other's postage on top of trip expenses." He also states that he does not have the VK9CG cards on hand as they were not ordered until he returned from Cocos-Keeling. Charlie states, "They have been mailed via surface mail from Europe but that generally takes a couple of months to get here. The same applies for postage for VK9CG. Many did not send in appropriate postage. I would like to remind all who need these two DX locations confirmed that I do not use the bureau. I do not keep funds on deposit there as again, I don't want to pay bureau user's postage to receive their card. Therefore, all requests must come direct with appropriate postage, NEW IRC or 1 USD to insure a QSL card. Otherwise, it is a dead issue."
