5A, LIBYA (Topband Activity)
An international team of operators will activate Libya between November 15-29th, using the callsign 5A7A (See OPDX.765 and OPDX.774). Rudi, DK7PE, one of the 5A7A operators, announced this past week the following frequency combination will be used during their 160m operations:

* During JA openings - TX frequency will be 1.821 MHz (QSX 1.825 MHz).
* After the JA window is closed they may change to 1.824.5 MHz (QSX up 5) for North America in case 1.821 is covered there with QRM.
They will use a TITANEX V160E vertical for transmitting, but their major challenge will be the reception side. They expect a beverage not to perform very well over the high conducting soil directly on the beach, let alone the space limitations. Therefore, they will use a Pre-Amp/FES (KD9SV) in connection with a Pennant receiving antenna and also with a K9AY system. Rudi states that he will also bring his well proved Coax loop with him.
