A2, BOTSWANA (Ops Needed!)
Frosty, K5LBU, reports that they have a good
place to operate from in Botswana for this upcoming summer trip. Daniel,
ZS6JR, has found a operating place that is on a large game farm in Botswana
about a 6 hour drive north of Johannesburg. He says there is room to put
up all the antennas and the electricty is good. The food is also good.
However, Frosty is still looking for 2 more operators. The dates will be
to arrive at Johannesburg on July 4th and be at the operating site on the
5th. They plan to depart from Botswana on the 20th and fly home on July
21st. If anyone would like to join them, Frosty will be at Visalia for the
International DX Convention in April, so stop by and talk to him. All you
have to bring with you is your laptop for loging and your clothes. All
antennas and radios are in Johannesburg. Frosty states, "We will have a
callsign just for the IARU Contest to use, and each person will have their
own A2 callsign (I hope)."

The following surprising announcement was sent out
this past week by Tom, N4XP, (released by Don, N1DG) which seems to be in
the works for 3 years.......
Don, N1DG, posts on the NJDXA Mail Reflector: "After 3 years of hard work it gives me great pride to post this to the reflector:Announcing the 2007 DXpedition to Huang Yan Dao
Better Known as..... Scarborough Reef
After three years of effort to obtain permission to land and operate from the most needed entity in the world, that needed authorization has been received. A multi-national team led by W6RGG will operate from Scarborough Reef for ten days in late April 2007. BA1HAM and BV4FH have been instrumental in bringing this operation to reality with ongoing support being provided by N4XP, N1DG, K5YY and N6MZ.
A team is being assembled that will include members from Asia, Europe and the USA.
As with any DXpedition to a location such as this, transportation is very costly and will be the largest single expense. Success will depend on the contributions of the DX Community.
Please QRX for more information as it becomes available and the web site is activated.
N4XP for the 2007 DXPedition to Huang Yan Dao.
