4B, MEXICO (Special Prefix)
The Mexican Federal Telecommunications
Commission, "CoFeTel" (Comision Federal de Telecomunicaciones), announced
this past week that it has authorized the use of the special prefix 4B for
Mexican stations throughout the year 2010, to celebrate the bicentennial
of Mexico's independence and the centennial of the Mexican Revolution.
5I, TANZANIA
Niko, S53A, is now active as 5I1S from Zanzibar until
possibly April 7th. He states this is his first holiday style trip with
some radio operation; "when time permits". He will be using an IC-7000,
w/100W and fixed delta loop antennas pointed to Europe (This will also
cover North America quite well). Activity is expected to be on 20/15/10
meters and possibly 17 meters as well. Niko is a CW fan, but this time
he took his mic on this trip, so there will be some possible SSB. QSL
via his home callsign S53A, by the Bureau or direct (see (QRZ.com)).
CV7, URUGUAY (Special Event)
Ricardo, CX7ABK, will be using the special
callsign CV7G between April 17-19th. Activity is to celebrate "the landing
of 33 Orientales on Agraciada Beach in Uruguay". For more details, see:
EF8, CANARY ISLANDS
Luis, EA8AY, will be active as EF8E during the CQWW
WPX CW Contest (May 29-30th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. QSL via EA8AY.

He will operate from the VY2TT superstation during the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 24-25th) as VY2X, and outside of the contest as VE3ZZ/VY2. QSL both callsigns to VE3ZZ, direct or by the Bureau.
NA-231. As this was being typed, there was news of a search and rescue for Cezar, VE3LYC, who was active as VY0V for a short time from East Pen Island (a new IOTA), Nunavut. Reports indicate that Cezar was in "fierce rain and wind, visibility poor, he had no water, no fire, no gas for generator, battery getting low, and native guide had abandoned him 38 hours ago. He was worried and seemed delirious, rambling on while running down his battery." For updates, watch the DX-World.Net Web page at:

KH6BZF PROPAGATION FORECAST/REPORT (For March 29-April 4th)
NEW DX BOOK AVAILABLE BY W9KNI (Press Release)
Bob's new book is entitled 'A Year of DX' and follows Bob as he makes
an all out effort to win the 2008 running of CQ Magazine's DX Marathon.
The Marathon is a year long operating event during which a contestant
works as many countries and CQ zones as possible, any band or any mode.
The Marathon chase is like telescoping a career of DX'ing into a single
year, but without requiring QSL's.
While the book chronicles Bob's efforts in the pileups and through the
lonely watches of the night, it also contains discussions of what DX'ing is
all about, the possibilities of DX'ing in low sun spot periods contributed
by Jim Henderson, KF7E, a chapter on optimizing your SSB transmit audio
by Hall of Famer Chip Margelli, K7JA, a discussion of what is the ideal
linear amplifier, and much more. Anyone who read and enjoyed Bob's 'Compete
DX'er' is sure to find this book equally worthwhile.
Book publication is May 1st, 2010; however advance orders are being
accepted now at: http://www.idiompress.com/yearofdx.php "
