3W, VIETNAM (VERY RARE IOTA #2)
An international group of operators are
now active as 3W6C from Con Co Island (AS-185) until April 18th. This
multi-national project, being coordinated by Swiss ham-radio operators,
consists of roughly 20 individuals including one woman and members not
only from Switzerland but also from Vietnam, Germany, USA and Japan.
During their stay they plan to have 4 stations on the air. Their goal is
to make contacts on as many different frequencies as possible, even on
the 80 meter and 160 meter bands which makes this DXpedition very special.
The team will also be on the satellites. The following satellite will be used: AO-07*, AO-51*, HO-68*, SO-50 and SO-67 (*first priority - not all overflights and sats will be used). Please note that only AO-07 will be activated in the SBB/CW-mode. All other satellites are in the FM-mode. The main areas in the footprint are: East-Asia, Japan, China, India, Australia and eastern part of Russia. Suggested frequencies are available at:
The SSB and CW stations will use former above-ground military bunkers. The RTTY station will be a small wooden bungalow which will also serve as the headquarters and general meeting point for the team who will sleep in the island's only guest house. The CW, SSB and RTTY sites are set far apart to minimize interference among them. From a practical standpoint this means that team members must travel 1 to 2 km to get from the headquarters to their assigned station when it is time to operate."
6V7, SENEGAL
Luc, F5RAV, will once again be active from La Somone
between October 25th and November 1st. He will be operating from Jean-
Francois, 6W7RV, QTH as 6V7T. Activity will be on SSB and PSK31, and on
160-10 meters (including 17 and 12m with a dipole only). He is planning

CY0, SABLE ISLAND (Update)
Randy, N0TG, informs OPDX readers: "As we
work toward a mid-October operation, details with regard to personnel
transportation as well as partial equipment shipment a few weeks in
advance is being planned. As is the case for many Dxpeditions, finances
become a challenge. Individual donations to assist the Dxpedition will
be appreciated. The HOME Page of the website includes a PAYPAL Donate
button with several country currency choices. All individual donors'
callsigns will be listed in order received on the website. The 'team'
thanks you for your consideration.
FR, REUNION ISLAND (Reminder)
By the time you read this, Stephane,

QSL via GM0DEQ. The island list is subject to change due to a few factors
governing their sea plane transport. More details will be published on
the following Web site, when available, at:
To celebrate the challenge, an Orkney Crystal Glass Trophy will be awarded to one lucky amateur radio station. This specially commissioned trophy will be awarded to the first station that has worked Bob on all the islands that he activates or the first to work the most islands activated [All he asks is that the recipient funds the appropriate post & packaging]. The departure date will be subject to WX too, and will be from Monday, June 14th, onwards as close to the longest day to maximize daylight flying. The latitude of the Orkney Islands will also assist in maximizing daylight flying.

Remember, he will be using a very rare prefix and will sign CK8G. On his blog page he states, "Despite the big geomagnetic storm this past week, the forecast for the duration of the operation is for quiet conditions. The operating schedule will be Asia from 0000- 0400z, Europe from 0400-0700z and 1400-1700z, North America from 1800-2300z. That's generally where I'll have the antenna pointed but will still happily take callers from anyone that is hearing me. I'll be operating almost exclusively 20m SSB, but I will bring a 40m dipole antenna as a backup. My plane doesn't land in Paulatuk until 4:00 pm on Wednesday, so I probably won't be on the air until late that evening (early morning 15th April UTC). I'll be using my satellite phone to post status updates during the trip, so watch this space for the latest information." Updated information can be found at:

SILENT KEY
The members of the Northern Ohio DX Association (NODXA) are
deeply saddend to report that a great friend, DXer and mentor/elmer
recently became a "Silent Key" (SK). Stanley Haase, K8VI (ex-K8YVI), at
the age 85, became a "SK" on March 29th. Stan, who grew up in Canada,
served in the Royal Air Force, moved to Michigan and then to Ohio, was a
very interesting and knowledgeable ham. He was a founding member (1965)
of the Hazel Park Amateur Radio Club in Hazel Park, MI. In the Cleveland,
Ohio, area, Stan will be remembered as the manager of the Heathkit Store in Parma
Hts., working there between 1963-1979. He will surely be missed by many
of his friends. OPDX and its readers would like to send out our deepest
sympathy to the family and friends of K8VI.
T32, EASTERN KIRIBATI (Update)
By the time you read this, the Southern
Line Islands operators should be active as T32SI from Starbuck Island
(IOTA OC-280 and the last island out of the four uninhabited islands to
be activated). The team thinks they may be able to operate for at least
4 days. Activity will be 80-10 meters using CW and SSB. For more details

TB90/TC1/TC57, TURKEY (TCSWAT Activities)
Members of the Turkish group
called TCSWAT (Special Wireless Activity Team) will be activating the
following special event during the month of April:
TB90MM - Between April 17-25th. Activity to celebrate the 90th anni- versary of "The Grand National Assembly of Turkey". This will be the first time TCSWAT will be operating with a "TB" prefix. It is used because TB stands for Turkiye Buyuk and the number as 90th year and MM stands for "Millet Meclisi" which translates as "Grand National Assembly of Turkiye". With the new regula- tions changes, it might be your only chance to work a "TB" prefix as a special callsign. For more information, see:ADDED REMINDERS: Look for the following activity by TCSWAT stations for the "Istanbul 2010 European Capitol of Culture Award" during the year 2010. Stations still to be activated are: TC2010CCA, TC2010CCE and TC2010CCI. The Award rules and the event catalogue is on the following link:http://www.ta0u.com/2010/eng/PDF/TB90MM.PDF TC1GLH - Between April 20-23rd. Will be the activation of the 6th station for the MLOTA (Marmara Lighthouse On The Air) Award; Gelibolu Lighthouse (TUR 023). This is the first activation of this lighthouse. Activity will be as usual on the HF bands, mainly on 20 and 40m SSB. For more information, see:
http://www.ta0u.com/2010/eng/PDF/TC1GLH.PDF TC57A - Between April 23-25th. Activity is once again for remembering the 57th Regiment Martyrs who lost their lives during the WWI campaign in Dardanelles. This year the station will be located at Kocacimen Hill overlooking the battlefields. Operations will be on CW, SSB and BPSK31 modes and on all HF bands, with a special try on 2m SSB.
