4J6, AZERBAIJAN
jClub members of the "Russian Community of Azerbaijan"
will activate their callsign, 4J6RO, from Nagorno Karabakh between
October 22 -25th. Activity will be on 40 and 20 meters, as well as
30/17/12 meters, using CW and SSB. Their QTH "Russkie Borisi" village,
in the Geranboy district (AzeDA index - GR, QRA Locator LN30FL).
Operators mentioned are: Boris/4K4K (Team/Club Leader), Alex/4J7WMF,

PLEASE NOTE: This is the only
legal callsign permitted by Ministry of Communications of Azerbaijan
for this territory. Any other prefixes, besides 4J and 4K, issued by
other countries for Karabakh have to be strictly considered illegal.
5X, UGANDA
Rudi, DK7PE, will be active as 5X0CW from Kampala for one
week starting October 27th through November 3rd. He plans to use his
K2 radio and jumper beam (40-10m). Activity will be mainly CW. Staying
in downtown Kampala, he expects some local QRM, but he will try some
160 and 80 meters. QSL via his home callsign.
5X, UGANDA
Alan, G3XAQ, will be active as 5X1XA from Kampala between
November 14th and December 1st. Activity will be CW only on the HF bands
using 100 watts and small beam. Alan plans to be in the CQWW DX CW Contest
(November 27-28th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (possibly 20m) entry. QSL

8Q, MALDIVES
Jim, G3VDB, will once again be active as 8Q7EJ starting
October 24th, for two weeks. This time he will be active from Bandos
Island (AS-013). However, operations are subject to hotel permission.
Activity will be an "intermittent holiday" operation during the above
period mostly on 20 meters CW, using an ICOM IC-7000 into ground plane
or other vertical antenna (to be decided). QSL via his home callsign.
9M6, EAST MALAYSIA

Operators Mike/KM9D (ex-V63MY) and Jan/KF4TUG (V63TO)
have been based in Sandakan for the past few months. Mike is currently
active as 9M6/KM9D, and has been on 30/20/17/12 meters CW. THe length
of their stay is unknown. QSL via OM2SA.
9Q5, DEM. REPUBLIC OF CONGO
Christian, CX2CC, is now active as 9Q5OAR
from the City of Goma, near the Rwanda border and is there working for
the United Nations for one year. He hopes to be active on CW (slow),
SSB and the Digital modes. Activity this past week was on 15/12/10
meters SSB. He is using a TS430 transceiver into a Log Periodic or wire
dipole. QSL via his home callsign CX2CC: Christian Cardarello, Avenida
Italia 3319, CP11600 Montevideo, Uruguay, South America. QSLs will not
be answered until his return in December 2011. Please, direct QSL send

AO8, CANARY ISLANDS (AF-004)
Operators Pekka/OH1RY/EA8AH, Juan/EA8CAC,

others will be active as AO8A during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October

BV100, TAIWAN
Members of the Republic of China (Taiwan) Centenary
Foundation will be activating special event station BV100 between now
and December 31st, 2011. Activity is to celebrate the 100th anniversary
of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Operations will be on all bands and

CQ DX MARATHON (Update)
John, K9EL, DX Marathon Administrator, reports
on October 16th:
"As recently announced by CQ Magazine, Competitors in the 2010 CQ DX Marathon will have a unique 'double-dip' opportunity in working the islands of the Netherlands Antilles for Marathon points. Those who worked any of the islands before 10/10/10, get credit for either the Windward or Leeward Islands, as appropriate. Hams who work them again on or after 10/10/10 will get additional credit for the new entities, providing a maximum of six country credits for working the islands in 2010. Version 2010.2 of the DX Marathon scoresheet that incorporates the four new PJ countries is now available on the DX Marathon Web site at:CY0, SABLE ISLAND (Update)http://www.dxmarathon.com Instructions to convert version to 2010.1 to the new 2010.2 are available on the Web site. E51, SOUTH COOK ISLANDS
Just a reminder that Bill, N7OU, will once again
be returning to Rarotonga (OC-013), and will be active as E51NOU between
October 18th and November 13th. Activity will be limited to his spare
time because of his Global Volunteer work on the island.
EA8, CANARY ISLANDS
Michael, DL6MHW, will be active as EA8/DL6MHW from

FSDXA ANNOUNCES THEIR PLANS FOR 2011 (Press Release #1)
Don Field, G3XTT,
FSDXA Publicity Officer, sent out the following on October 10th: "The Five
Star DXers Association (FSDXA) is pleased to announce its next DXpedition
to Kiritimati (also known as Christmas Island, T32) to take place in
September/October 2011. FSDXA, closely linked to CDXC (Chiltern DX Club),
the UK DX Foundation, is the group which brought you the 1998 9M0C Spratly
Islands DXpedition, the record-breaking 2001 D68C DXpedition to the Comoros
and, subsequently, the 2004 3B9C Rodrigues and 2007 3B7C St.Brandon
DXpeditions. Once again, Yaesu has kindly agreed to be Global Sponsor,
and will be providing sixteen FT-5000 transceivers along with a similar
number of Quadra VL-1000 linears. UK amateur radio retailers Martyn Lynch
& Sons and Nevada are also committed to sponsoring the operation.
It is hoped that the callsign T32C will be allocated. The 'C' in the
callsign stands for 'CDXC', the club from which the Five Star DXers Associ-
ation was formed and is also a reminder of the group’s previous successful
operations.
As with previous FSDXA expeditions, this will be a major effort, with a target of more than 150,000 QSOs. There will be up to sixteen stations on the air, using amplifiers along with monoband beams and vertical dipole arrays, 24 hours a day, for almost four weeks, including four weekends, around the autumn equinox when DX propagation on all bands is typically at its best.
Our primary objective is to activate Christmas Island T32 with a view to giving as many DXers as possible a first contact with this rare DXCC entity and, as a secondary objective, to give as many band-slots as possible. While many experienced DXers have one or two contacts with Christmas Island, our focus, in addition to, making Christmas Island available to less well-equipped DXers, especially in Europe and the US East Coast, both of which are tough paths from the mid-Pacific, will be to help fill those missing band and mode slots, especially on LF and on RTTY.
Club Log shows Kiritimati as 36th most wanted DXCC entity by European operators and 61st most wanted worldwide. It is even more sought after on the LF bands.
A large number of amateurs from 13 different DXCC entities have already signed up for T32C, some for half the overall period, some for the whole operation. There will be 30 operators on site at any one time. Operator numbers have been determined to ensure that a full complement of stations can be manned whenever bands are open. Many of these operators have been with us before. All bring experience not only of operating (usually multiple modes, often with a contesting background) but in terms of other essential skills. For example, we will have two medical specialists, antenna, RF and software specialists, and a range of other skills which will be essential in mounting a major operation so far from logistical support.

It is also planned to take a young amateur, to gain valuable DXpedition experience, and sponsor- ship is already on hand to make this possible.
At this time we are seeking contributions from sponsors to help defray the very significant logistics costs of this DXpedition. For example, there is limited electricity on the island so generators will have to be shipped. Most equipment has to be shipped by container via Tarawa. The team will then fly out to Christmas via Honolulu. All team members will be covering their own travel costs and accommodation on the island, and making a contribution to other (mainly logistics) costs, but there will still be a significant shortfall.

HB0, LIECHTENSTEIN
Members of the Rhein Ruhr DX Association (RRDXA),
from the Düsseldorf area, will once again be active as HB0/HB9AON, to
celebrate their 27th DXpedition to Triesenberg, Liechtenstein, between
October 27th and November 4th. Operators mentioned are: Diethelm/DJ2YE,
Uli/DF7EF, Eike/DO2RE, Karl/DL6EAQ, Christian/DL6KAC, Rolf/DL8DAW,
Heinz-Willi/DL8EAQ, Wilhelm/DG3EX, Tom/HB9DOD and Silvio/HB9LCW. Their
activity will include the CQ WW SSB DX Contest (October 30-31st) as a
Multi-Multi entry with 6 stations. Antennas will include dipoles at a

"7000 QSOs" and a score of 10 million points.
HC2/HD2, ECUADOR
Members of the SK6M Contest Team will be active as
HD2M from Nobol during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 27-28th) as a

AS-018. Look for RC0F to be active from Sakhalin Island during the
CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 30-31st) as a Single-Op/All-

SA-099. NEW IOTA GROUP! Roger, G3KMA, announced (edited): "Following today's (October 13th) ARRL announcement of four new DXCC entities in the former Netherlands Antilles, we can now announce IOTA's position. Curacao will, in accordance with IOTA rule E.5.5 (Island DXCC entity group), become a new IOTA group with the reference number SA-099, operative from 0400 UTC, 10 October 2010. Contacts made prior to that time/date will continue to count for SA-006. Bonaire remains as a valid island within SA-006, so its IOTA status will not change. There will also be no IOTA group number change to Sint Maarten NA-105 or Saba and Sint Eustatius NA-145, islands split from each other long ago in accordance with IOTA rules.

RADIO ARCALA AND THE 2010 CQWW SSB CONTEST (Press Release)

"This year Radio Arcala set the target to become internationally focused and extended their ranks to the United States, Japan and Continental Europe, both in their overall expertise and their radio operating resources. Kazu, JK3GAD, has done a superb job of taking many Arcala messages to his homeland. Now it is time to set sail to the United States and introduce another U.S. sound from the Radio Arcala station network.S7, SEYCHELLESOH8X from Northern Finland will be activated by Marko, OH4JFN, in SOAB, hoping for improved propagation from the Far North.
OH0B from Aland Islands will be operated by Toni, OH2UA, current EU CQWW SSB and CW record holder, also in SOAB. They will run against each other to gain a Northern European victory and an initial set of qualification points for WRTC 2014.
CR2X from the Azores with Jeff, N5TJ, at the helm will add a new element to the European racing scene. He comes with a formidable WRTC background and with current CQWW World Records for SSB and CW under his belt. As this is the first time Jeff enters the European scene in CQWW, the outcome promises to be interesting, to say the least.
5R8X from Madagascar will see the majority of Arcalians - OH2BH, OH2PM, OH6KN, OH7EA and OH8NC - traveling to this island nation in the Indian Ocean not only to provide a dual-multiplier but to do a variety of things at once. In CQWW they will be multi-op, single-TX while also making sure, with their awesome lineup of LF antennas, to provide a 5R8 on the low bands for those in need. Their low-band activity will last for two weeks, including CQWW, plus the following weekend, with two stations expected to be on at prime hours.

T31, CENTRAL KIRBATI ISLANDS
An international team is planning to activate
Kanton Island (OC-043) for 9 days starting April 2011. An additional day
may be added depending on the sailing time to the island. Transportation
has been arranged, all licenses are assigned and the permit is in its final
stages. Callsign will be T31A. They plan to have 6 stations operational
with 12 operators and activity on 160-10 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY.

Tom, DL2OBO, continues his long travels on his honeymoon, and
is now expected to be active as T88DL from "Palau Pacific Resort" between

CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 30-31st) as Single-Op/Single-Band (20m)

TO3, MARTINIQUE
Andreas, DL3GA, is now active as TO3GA from Ducos on
the Island of Martinique (IOTA NA-107, DIFO FM-001, WLOTA 1041, DDFM 97)
until October 20th. Activity has been on 80-15 meters using CW, SSB and

V7, MARSHALL ISLANDS (IOTA Op Postponed!)
The V73RRC QSL Manager Richard,
N7RO, reports that the expedition to Ujelang Atoll (OC-278) by Yuri, N3QQ,
has been postponed. It is possible a new effort will be made at the end

VP2M, MONTSERRAT
Operators Larry/K3VX (VP2MVX), Will/K9FO (VP2MFO),
Don/K9NR (VP2MNR), Carl/K9CS (VP2MSC) and Bill/K9OWQ (VP2MWP) will be
active from here between November 22nd and December 6th. Activity will
include entries in the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 27-28th) and ARRL
160 Contests (December 3-5th) as a Multi-2 class signing VP2M. Activity
outside the contests will be on 160-10 meters, mostly CW but some SSB,
RTTY and PSK. QSL all callsigns via K9CS.
VP5, TURKS & CAICOS ISLANDS (Caribbean Tour)
Cory, N1WON, now active
as KP2/N1WON from the U.S. Virgin Island (NA-106) until October 19th,
will be active as VP5/N1WON from the Turks and Caicos Islands (NA-002)
between October 21st and November 3rd. He will be there to be part of
the VP5DX team for the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 30-31st). QSL VP5DX
via NU4Y. The VP5DX contest logs will be uploaded to the LoTW. Also,
QSL VP5/N1WON and KP2/N1WON via his home callsign. Cory's logs will
also be uploaded to LoTW at a later date. He states, "I have plenty of
nice QSL cards that I would like to send to the folks I’ve worked."
VK9N, NORFOLK ISLAND (Update/Change)
After their operation from ZK2A
(see ZK2 listed below), operators Andrea/IK1PMR, YL Claudia/PA3LEO,
Al/LA9SN, Doug/N6TQS and possibly others will be active from here between
December 5-19th. Plans of activity should/probably be the same as their

XX9, MACAO
Georg, DK7LX, is now active as XX9TLX until October 26th. His
main focus on this trip will be 30/17/12 meters as well as CW, and
possibly RTTY toward the end of his activity. Most of this activity so
far has been on 30 and 12 meters. He mentions that 80 meters is very
unlikely due to environmental issues. QSL via his home callsign.
ZK2, NIUE (Update/Change)
Look for 5 operators to be active as ZK2A
between November 20th and December 3rd. Operators mentioned are: Andrea/
IK1PMR, YL Claudia/PA3LEO, Al/LA9SN, Doug/N6TQS, Alan/K6SRZ, and possibly
Tom/SP5UAF. Activity will be focused on Europe, 160-40 meters, 30/17/12
meters, CW and RTTY using four Elecraft with solid state amps with RX
antennas. This is a lightweight DXpedition. They will try to limit their
extra baggage expenses. To achieve this (and for efficiency and reliability
